I would like, above all, to express my personal gratitude to all the firms and other enterprises that kindly accepted the university’s invitation to participate in ACT 2012. The dual challenges of educating to global standards and satisfying the human resource requirements of a vibrant local society can best be met through alliances between educators and professionals.

In my view, the objectives of a career fair are grounded in providing students and employers with the opportunity for “structured” exposure to one another. There is immeasurable value to both employers and entry-level employees in the contact and communication that lead to mutual understanding and reciprocal influence. Specifically, students become aware in the first person of employer offerings and expectations, and employers gain in their knowledge and understanding of the preparation and aspirations of AUD-generated talent.

ACT 2012 is an additional step forward in bringing The American University in Dubai to the professional public and the professional public to the university. I trust that this event enhances the university’s service to its student constituency and those who seek to employ AUD students.

What is “ACT now”?

“ACT now”: AUD Careers Today is AUD’s Career Fair that brings together the student and alumni community with regional and internationalemployers. This annual event aims to facilitate a mutually beneficial collaboration to ensure that AUD’s talent is employed by market leaders. In addition, the annual Career Fair facilitates the development of relationships between the AUD student community and employers in order to meet the dynamic needs of today’s marketplace.

What should you expect?

This year’s “ACT now” consists of 56 participants, representing multinational, regional, and local companies, covering a wide range of industries. Each company is represented by its Human Resources personnel, ready to answer questions on their company culture, employment opportunities and market trends. “ACT now” 2012 offers to AUD students and alumni a great opportunity to counteract with company representatives and prepare better their career planning and professional development.
