December 2016

Christmas Dinner A good crowd, bolstered by the Wesley boys on a rowing camp, shared a meal at the very casual Christmas dinner. The company was good and the food was great. A hearty thanks to the organisers and anyone who helped on the night. From our Captain In 2003, I began my journey as a junior rower at the Port Rowing Club in . After a few short years I moved to a more competitive Torrens Rowing Club where I competed and coached at state and national competitions until moving to Bunbury in June 2015.

My experiences as a competitive rower range from competing in U17 crews at National Championships, winning state titles as a junior and senior in singles, pairs, quads, fours and eights and winning the women’s at the National University Games. I have coached adult novice programs, junior, intermediate and senior school aged students. During my time as head coach in a private school rowing program in Adelaide, one of my students was chosen to compete at national selection for the Australian Junior Team.

I have a strong passion for the development of rowing and as such have lead and directed numerous initiatives to increase participation and performance. This includes, school to club transition rowing programs, promoting and developing the University of South Australia Rowing team and managing the team at National Competitions.

Although my time at Bunbury Rowing Club has only been short, my connection to the club is much longer. As a junior I visited Bunbury frequently to see family and was warmly invited to take part in any junior development squad training sessions that were available. I had the pleasure of competing in one of the Bunbury regattas as a school aged rower, and the generosity and friendliness of the club has always stayed with me.

Taking on the position of Club Captain is an honour and I intend to foster teamwork amongst all members of the club by encouraging maximum participation by individuals and families in both competition and social activities of the club in 2017 and beyond.
