Port Overview
Located in Chile, XV Arica and Parinacota Region, province of Arica, commune and town of the same name. Arica province borders Peru to the North, the province of Parinacota to the East with Tarapacá, the Tarapaca Region to the South and the Pacific Ocean to the West.
The berths are located in the inner part of the breakwater and formed by a wall of reinforced-concrete caissons and metal pile cells.
Paved areas are 185.445 m2. The built-up areas (storehouses and other dependencies) are 27.048 m2. The pavements of the mooring sites 3, 4 and 5 were reconstructed in 2003 and can withstand cranes of large tonnage. They have spacious terraces that allow efficiency in loading and unloading operations. Transfer capacity: 3.956.000 tonnes.

Port of Arica operates under the mono-operator scheme, with 2 berthing fronts of 7 sites and is identified as a natural port for Bolivia’s import and export as a Mediterranean country, with a transfer capacity of 3,956,000 tons, built area of 27,048 m2, covered/partially covered storage infrastructure of 38,056 m2 , an uncovered area of 134,320 M2 area and trucks parking area of 10,650 m2 . Warehouse No. 1 has 2,000 m2 of covered storage for bulk wheat. The berth has an average depth of 10 meters and no vessel size restrictions.
The Bolivia Chile Treaty of 1904 establishes free commercial transit for Bolivian import cargo (365 days free storage) and export cargo (60 days free storage). Land transport of Bolivian import cargo is done by vehicles from Bolivian transport companies.

Customs Guidance
Bolivian cargo arriving at and departing from the Port of Arica, is processed via the Administradora de Servicios Portuarios Bolivia (ASPB), which is the customs agent of the State of Bolivia. ASPB is the office responsible for the cargo, fill up shipment forms, so that the procedure is done on the day of application.
