The National Safety Council was set up by the Ministry of Labour, Government of on 4 March 1966. This is an apex autonomous body at the National level for developing and leading the voluntary movement of Safety, Health and Environment in India. It is a voluntary non-profit making body registered as a Society under Society Registration Act, 1860 with Registered Office at Navi Mumbai. Rule 15 of the Rules and Regulations of the Council provides for setting up and development of State Chapters for the purpose of carrying out council’s objectives and activities at the State level. The Kerala Chapter is set up as per this Rule.

The Kerala Chapter of National Safety Council was established in 1970 with the representation from the Employer Organizations, Trade unions and the State Government of Kerala. All the major industries in Kerala are members of the Council.

We are celebrating our foundation day, 4th March as National Safety Day every year. As part of the Safety Day various awards were distributed.
