Työssä käytettiin Linux-käyttöjärjestelmään pohjautuvaa matkapuhelinta. Opinnäytetyössä kuvataan ohjelmistokehityksen eri vaiheita ja valintoja sekä käytettyjä työvälineitä Meego- käyttöjärjestelmälle ohjelmoitaessa. Työssä kuvataan myös käyttöliittymän rakentamista QML-ohjelmointikielellä. Lisäksi pyritään ottamaan huomioon käytettävyys sovelluksen käyttötarkoitusta ajatellen sekä matkapuhelimeen liittyvät erityispiirteet ohjelmaa suunniteltaessa ja ohjelmoitaessa. Sovellus ohjelmoitiin Meego-käyttöjärjestelmälle käyttäen Qt Quick -kehitysympäristöä. Ohjelmointikielinä käytettiin QML- ja Javascript-ohjelmointikieliä. Työtä voidaan hyödyntää erityisesti QML-kielisessä ohjelmistoprojekteissa, mutta myös yleisesti mobiilisovellusten suunnittelussa. Modern password security for system designers What to consider when building a password-based authentication system By Ian Maddox and Kyle Moschetto, Google Cloud Solutions Architects This whitepaper describes and models modern password guidance and recommendations for the designers and engineers who create secure online applications. A related whitepaper, Password security for users, offers guidance for end users. This whitepaper covers the wide range of options to consider when building a password-based authentication system. It also establishes a set of user-focused recommendations for password policies and storage, including the balance of password strength and usability. The technology world has been trying to improve on the password since the early days of computing. Shared-knowledge authentication is problematic because information can fall into the wrong hands or be forgotten. The problem is magnified by systems that don't support real-world secure use cases and by the frequent decision of users to take shortcuts. According to a 2019 Yubico/Ponemon study, 69 percent of respondents admit to sharing passwords with their colleagues to access accounts. More than half of respondents (51 percent) reuse an average of five passwords across their business and personal accounts. Furthermore, two-factor authentication is not widely used, even though it adds protection beyond a username and password. Of the respondents, 67 percent don’t use any form of two-factor authentication in their personal life, and 55 percent don’t use it at work. Password systems often allow, or even encourage, users to use insecure passwords. Systems that allow only single-factor credentials and that implement ineffective security policies add to the problem. -

But, due to the bundle of proprietary software that comes along with Android on consumer devices, many people don’t consider it an open source operating system. I am going to list not one, not two, but several alternatives, Linux-based mobile OSes . Top Open Source alternatives to Android (and iOS) Let’s see what open source mobile operating systems are available. Just to mention, the list is not in any hierarchical or chronological order . 1. Plasma Mobile. A few years back, KDE announced its open source mobile OS, Plasma Mobile. Plasma Mobile is the mobile version of the desktop Plasma user interface, and aims to provide convergence for KDE users. Do you need to protect it? How bad are the consequences if you fail to protect it? How much trouble are you prepared to go to? These questions should be asked whilst considering what information you are accessing (which websites), how you are accessing the information, (what device you are using) and where you are accessing the information (at home, work, public place). Security & Privacy When looking at your Digital Security you are protecting your information against malicious attacks and malware. (Malware is software intentionally designed to cause damage to a computer). Digital Privacy is different as you are deciding what information you are prepared to share with a website or App (or its third party partners) that you are already using. Permission to share this information can be implicit once you start using a website or App. Some websites or Apps will allow you to control how they use your information. Security Physical access: How secure is the device you are using? Is it kept in a locked building, at home, or do you use it when you are out and about? Does anyone else have access to the device? Do you require a passcode or password to unlock your device? Virtual access: Have you updated your IOS software (on an iPad) or installed the latest anti-virus software on your device? Most devices will prompt you when an update is available.
