Carousel Theatre’s FREE Production of is “Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On”

Vancouver, B.C. – This summer, young castaways brave the forces of nature and enchantment! Carousel Theatre’s Teen Shakespeare Program conjures up a classic tale of fate, magic and imagination in The Tempest by .

Duke and his daughter are exiled to a remote . With the aid of his slave and the sprite , Prospero summons a tempest to ship‐wreck his usurping sibling Antonio and the complicit King of Naples on the isle’s shores. What ensues is a series of power‐plays between magic and reason, wilderness and humanity, star‐struck love and bitter grudges. Using a chorus of Elements, supported by instruments and percussion, the highly relevant theme of human‐environment relations is explored.

Esteemed instructors Carole Higgins (Head Instructor), Alan Zinyk (Assistant Instructor) and Melissa Oei (Assistant Director) direct Carousel Theatre’s company of up‐and‐coming teen actors—all from Metro Vancouver and Victoria! A creative team featuring Stephanie Kong (Costume Design), Mishelle Cuttler (Composer and Sound Designer), Graham Ockley (Lighting Designer) and Michael Gunion (Stage Manager) complete the professional theatre environment. This year, the talented young cast of The Tempest includes: Sophie Chappell, Ella Dube, Seamus Fera, J. S. Gilbert, Aliya Jessa, Scarlett Larry, Shayna Linds, Emma Lindsay, Luke McAndless‐Davis, Sophie McNeilly, Sara Merner, Luke Morison, Brittany Mrsic, Sofia Newman, Nikki Read, Darquise Saint Germain, Kane Tone, and Dexter Van Der Schyff.
