Though woodcuts are traditionally printed in black-and-white, Bak sometimes used multiple blocks to create colored prints. In 1958, Bak took a teaching position at St. John’s College in Collegeville, Minnesota. Impressed by Marcel Breuer’s reconstruction of the nearby mon- astery, he submitted a design for a stained glass win- dow to occupy a large wall in the abbey. Lovely Trip to Wisconsin

Son Richard invited me to his new home in Madi- son. He wanted me to join him for supper with an old old friend Bruce Feustol who now lives in Lake- wood, Colorado and presently visiting Wisconsin. He travels often and I was happy to see him again. Years ago I’d invited Bruce and his brother Seal to spend time at my home in Oak Park, Illinois. We always had good times together. This fellow works for the National Confer- ence of State Legislation. The goal is to establish and strengthen good government practices. Bruce travels frequently, nationally and internationally. Recently he worked with foreign governments in Kosovo, South Africa and Mozambique. He travels around lots of times. We had a lovely supper at The Great Dane restau- rant.
