GENERAL INFORMATION

Applicants must be certain to completely fill out and sign the application and to submit all official transcripts and test scores (if available). Please make sure your application is complete.

 We do not consider applications until all the required documents have been submitted. MODUL University Vienna prioritizes students who demonstrate a well-prepared application.

 EARLY BIRD REDUCTION: Students who pay the first installment of tuition fees before May 31st for the fall semester or November 30th for the spring semester will receive a reduction of €1,000.00 off the total study fee for the program.

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Before you submit your application, please make sure that you have included the following documents regarding the program of your choice:

 Please note that all documents must be submitted in English. For the Bachelor program we do also accept German documents. The motivation letter has to be submitted in English only.

LETTER OF MOTIVATION (PERSONAL STATEMENT)

The letter of motivation is a very important part of your application, which will assist the university in learning about your goals and reasons for wanting to study the program of interest, as well as helping us to get an idea of who you are as an individual. Your letter of motivation must be written in English, and should be approximately one A4 sized typed page in length. Some points to consider are:

1) Your educational and personal background

2) Why you are interested in studying the program of choice

3) Your goals for the future – what your career plans are

4) Your expectations – what you hope to gain from studying at MODUL University Vienna

5) What attracted you to apply to MODUL University Vienna

CURRICULUM VITAE (RÉSUMÉ)

The CV should be a general summary of your personal, educational, and professional background. A typical CV will start off with a personal information section, including name, contact details, date of birth, citizenship, etc. This should be followed by a section containing information about your education, from high school upwards, and a section on your professional background, including any voluntary work or internships. If you like, you can include a section on your personal interests and skills.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: I do not have my secondary school leaving certificate or my bachelor’s degree yet, as I will only graduate this year. Can I already apply, or do I have to wait until I have received it?

A: You can already go ahead and apply! If accepted, we will offer you a ‘provisional acceptance’, which means that a place in the program is reserved for you. This place will become definite once you submit your certificate to us. You must submit your most up-to-date transcript with your application.

Q: I do not have my e.g. TOEFL/IELTS test result yet. Can I already apply, or do I have to wait until I receive it?

A: You can already go ahead and apply! If accepted, we will offer you a ‘provisional acceptance’, which means that a place in the program is reserved for you. This place will become definite once you submit your certificate to us.

Q: Do I have to travel to Vienna for the application interview?

A: If it is convenient, we prefer that you visit the university in person. However, we realize that for some of our international applicants this may not be possible. In this case, it is also possible to conduct the interview by telephone or Skype conference.

Q: How long do I have to wait to hear the outcome of my application? How will you inform me if my application has been successful?

A: You will hear if your application has been successful within a week after your application interview. If admitted, you will receive notification by post, so please ensure that the postal address included on your application form is accurate. For students living outside of Austria, we will also send you notification by email. If unsuccessful, all applicants will receive notification by email only.

Q: Does MODUL University Vienna offer student accommodation?

A: Yes. Although MODUL University Vienna does not own any student accommodation, we have an agreement with student housing providers in Vienna, with whom we reserve a block of rooms each year. Students can then reserve a room directly through us. For more information on accommodation, please contact the Student Service Center at [email protected].

STUDENT VISA FOR NON-EU APPLICANTS

Q: I am an international student and require a visa to enter and live in Austria. Will MODUL University Vienna assist me with obtaining a student visa?

A: Yes. Once you have been officially accepted to MODUL University Vienna, it is very important that you begin your visa application immediately. You will be given the contact information for MU’s Student Service Center, which you should contact to request specific documents necessary for the visa process. Please note: It is up to you to make an appointment with the Austrian authority (embassy, consulate) in your home country to inquire which specific steps must be taken and which specific documents must be submitted. The Student Service Center will help you along the way, but ultimately the responsibility is yours.

Q: How long does a visa application take?

A: This depends on your citizenship and country of residence. For citizens of some countries it can be a matter of weeks, but for citizens of most other countries, the process averages 3 to 6 months. Q: Are students who hold a student visa officially allowed to work?

A: All students who hold a student visa are officially allowed to earn a maximum amount of approximately €350 a month, varying each year.

 Students who are accepted at MODUL University Vienna are required to submit ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS (not photocopies) for the enrollment process upon arrival in Vienna. Failure to provide certified translations of original documents may result in non-admission to the program.
