2 A ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANHATTAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 14.56.010 OF CHAPTER 3 56, TITLE OF THE MANHATTAN BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO SPECIAL SPEED ZONES 4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MANHATTAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES 5 HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

6 SECTION 1. The City has prepared and evaluated a traffic and engineering study as required by Vehicle Code section 22358 regarding the traffic zones described in Section 14.56.010 of the 7 Manhattan Beach Municipal Code. Said report indicates that the current speed limits for those areas is higher than is reasonable and that the public health, safety and welfare would be served by lowering those speed limits. 8 SECTION 2. That Section 14.56.010, "Increasing state speed limit in certain zones", of 9 Chapter 56 of Title 14 of the Manhattan Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

16 4. Aviation Boulevard between Manhattan Beach Blvd. and 40 miles per hour Artesia Blvd. 17 5. Aviation Blvd. between Marine Avenue and 40 miles per hour 18 Manhattan Beach Boulevard

19 6. Highland Avenue between and 30 miles per hour 45th Street 20 7. Manhattan Beach Blvd. between Sepulveda Blvd. and 35 miles per hour 21 Aviation Blvd.

22 8. Manhattan Beach Boulevard between Sepulveda Blvd. and 35 miles per hour Pacific Avenue 23 9. Marine Avenue between Magnolia Avenue and 35 miles per hour 24 Aviation Boulevard 25 10. Rosecrans Avenue between Blanche Road and 40 miles per hour Aviation Boulevard 26 SECTION 3. All other provisions of Manhattan Beach Municipal Code section 14.56.010 27 shall remain unchanged and continue in full force and effect. 28 SECTION 4. Any provisions of the Manhattan Beach Municipal Code, or appendices thereto, or any other ordinances of the City, to the extent that they are inconsistent with this ordinance, and 29 no further, are hereby repealed. 30

1 SECTION 5. This notice shall be published by one insertion in The Beach Reporter, the 2 official newspaper of the City, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and operation thirty (30) days after its final passage and adoption. 3 SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance; shall cause 4 the same to be entered in the book of original ordinances of said City; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; 5 and shall within fifteen (15) days after the passage and adoption thereof cause the same to be published by one insertion in The Beach Reporter, the official newspaper of the City and a weekly newspaper of 6 general circulation, published and circulated within the City of Manhattan Beach hereby designated for that purpose. 7 PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 6th day of May, 2003. 8 Ayes: Wilson, Fahey, Ward, Aldinger, and Mayor Napolitano.
