MLB Hall of Fame Inductees By: Anthony Gedeon The inductees for the 2018 MLB Hall of Fame have been announced and they are Chipper Jones (ATL), Jim Thome (CLE, PHI, CHW), Vladimir Guerrero (LAA, MON, BAL, TEX), and Trevor Hoffman (SD, MKE). All of these inductees are very important to the history of baseball and were very good at what they did. Chipper Jones led all the players with 97.2 percent of the votes. Being in the Hall of Fame is a big deal because it means that they made a huge contribution to the entire baseball community. Chipper Jones was drafted by the Braves in 1990 and spent his entire career there. He was an eight time All Star and in the 1999 season he won the MVP award. Thome who was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1989, had a weird start to his career not making it into the big leagues until 1991, and wasn’t a household name until three seasons later. He is 8th in the most home runs in MLB history with 612 and he had a slugging percentage of .554, which ranks 23rd all time. On average every 13.76 at bats Thome had it was a home run which is 5th in the MLB with players like Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth ahead of him. Guerrero made his debut into the league in 1996 with the Montreal Expos, he finished top 10 in the MVP voting 6 times and later won the award with the Anaheim Angels in 2004. He is one of 13 players in MLB history to finish multiple seasons with at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases. In 1994, Trevor Hoffman was one of the most reliable closers. Over the course of 16 seasons he had at least 20 saves a season 15 times. In 2003, however, he only appeared in 9 games due to having 2 shoulder injuries in the off season. In 2010 Hoffman became the only pitcher with 600 carrier saves. These amazing baseball players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame officially on July 29th. These players will never be forgotten, they have contributed so much to the baseball community and will be loved forever. .
