Actors Theatre of Louisville Link: https://www.actorstheatre.org/cultural-pass/ Recommended ages: 10 - 21 The Making of OPPY: This video was inspired by our production of Are You There?, part of the 44th Humana Festival of New American Plays. This production centers on two scientists who have lost connection with the Mars rover, “Oppy.” Our props artisans fully designed and built a remote controlled rover. In this video, several members of our props team discuss the design and build process and the trial and errors they experienced while creating such a unique, expressive piece.

ART FM, Inc. Link: http://artxfm.com/culturalpass/ Recommended ages: 12 - 21 ARTxFM is a community radio station based in Louisville, broadcasting on WXOX 97.1 FM. During the Covid-19 lockdown, our volunteer DJs developed an innovative method for broadcasting live from the comfort and safety of home. This summer ARTxFM DJs will welcome Cultural Pass participants into their studios through the magic of Zoom!

During this event, Cultural Pass virtual attendees will learn about the history of radio station WXOX and have the opportunity to get behind the scenes to meet some of their favorite DJs. Participants will gain an understanding of how the remote broadcasting technology works and what goes into producing a radio show. Studio tours will be followed by a question and answer session and attendees will be invited to join the afterparty in a Zoom silent disco!

Arts Council of Southern Indiana Link: www.sointoart.org/virtual-classess Recommended ages: 1 - 21 AASI's Art on the Move program, we have local artists to film 15- to 30-minute instructional arts videos such as drawing, painting, beadwork, music, story time and sing/dance and then adding them to our website (www.sointoart.org) for anyone to access free of charge. Videos are promoted on social media to maintain community engagement and we also send them directly to teachers at schools in the communities we serve to share with their students, supplementing arts education. While the instructional videos are able to serve any population with access to a computer.

Members of Flamenco Louisville share flamenco fundamentals to create a short choreography and musical piece you can perform at home, accompanying the instructors. These fundamentals include: palmas (rhythmic hand-clapping), flores (movement of the hands), glopes (striking the floor with your foot) and more. Flamenco is a collaborative art form - this virtual offering is a great option for parent/child or sibling collaboration, with each individual taking a different role, supporting each other as the musician or the dancer.

Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana Link: www.gskentuckiana.org/culturalpass Recommended ages: 5 - 21 You’ve probably tried mixing paints to make new colors (i.e. blue + red = purple). But did you know that you can also unmix colors? Give it a try and learn about chromatography, a science technique for separating mixtures. You’ll also learn about capillary action and how water can be “sticky.” With plastic sandwich bags, a coffee filter or paper towel and some markers, we can become “color scientists” and unravel the mystery of color mixing while creating our own masterpiece.

Historic Walking Tour Link: www.oldlouisville.org/cultural-pass Recommended ages: 5 - 21 The virtual walking tour of Historic Old Louisville is a 20-minute film on the architecture and history of Louisville’s national historic preservation district. Children will learn fun facts about the people who lived in these unique houses, the world’s fair in 1883-1887, Thomas Edison’s new electric light bulb, and the whimsical elements incorporated into the facades. There are coloring pages of the houses and word searches linked to the film. Older students will learn about the varied architectural styles, the architects and the captains of industry who had them built. In the scene, Alice and Georgia Nugent talk about overhearing their parents discussing the 15th amendment but we don’t see that scene. What do you think the parents said? Did they agree or disagree? You get to decide by writing the scene between the parents.

Designs with dreams, inspirations to become. Enchanting. My eyes taking refuge in the petals.” - Melissa, age 13 -- Students will create a collage made of natural, found materials (fallen petals and leaves) that reflects their thoughts and feelings. After the collages are created, students will then turn to poetry and write odes, celebratory poems of joy, to go alongside their collage. Students can write odes to nature, odes to friends or family, or anyone or thing that their collage makes them think of. Students will then use their collages to inspire their writing and describe the person or thing using Golden Details-sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch, alliteration, simile, personification, and metaphor-giving the gift of poetry and art!
