Entomologi och naturalhistoria 2009 Följande lista över entomologiska böcker och tryck omfattar en rad olika ämnesområden och inkluderar många olika insektsgrupper. Vissa insektsgrupper har fått egna rubriker. Dessa grupper kan även finnas behandlade under andra avdelningar, varför det kan löna sig att leta också under dessa. I den här katalogen har jag särskilt velat lyfta fram några klassiska insektsverk som haft stor betydelse för entomologins utveckling i dess olika former. Jag begagnar även tillfället att slå ett slag för den i boksamlarkretsar välkände entomologen och Linné-kännaren Felix Bryk, som trots en verksamhet som rörde sig över vida fält alltid behöll bibliophilens känsla för det estetiskt tilltalande, något som löper som en röd tråd genom hans produktion. Han presenteras i en särskilt avdelning och med en kort biografi. Trycken är kompletta och i gott antikvariskt skick, skurna och häftade i 8:o, samt bär pappomslag om ej annat anges. Drought, Dispersal, and Community Dynamics in Arid-Land Streams

Lytle Understanding the mechanisms that regulate local species diversity and community structure is a perennial goal of ecology. Local community structure can be viewed as the result of numerous local and regional processes; these processes act as filters that reduce the regional species pool down to the observed local community. In stream ecosystems, the natural flow regime (including the timing, magnitude, and duration of high and low flow events) is widely recognized as a primary regulator of local diversity and community composition. This is especially true in arid- land streams, where low- and zero-flow events can occur frequently and for extended periods of time (months to years). Additionally, wetted habitat patches in arid-land stream networks are often fragmented within and among stream networks. Thus dispersal between isolated aquatic patches may also play a large role in regulating local communities. In my dissertation, I explored the roles that drought, dispersal, and local habitat factors play in structuring arid-land stream communities. I examined the impact of flow permanence and seasonal variation in flow and other abiotic factors on aquatic communities at both fine spatial scales over a long time period (8 years; Chapter 2) and at a broad spatial scale over a shorter time period (1-2 years; Chapter 4). Additionally, I quantified aquatic invertebrate aerial dispersal over moderate spatial scales (≤ 0.5 km) by conducting a colonization experiment using artificial stream pools placed along and inland from two arid-land streams (Chapter 4). -

It covers all species of aquatic and semi-aquatic bugs (Heteroptera) in Great Britain, identifying those that are rare and/or under threat as well as non-threatened and non-native species. Water scorpion (Nepa cinerea Linnaeus, 1758) occurs in different aquatic habi- tats from lentic to lotic conditions. We examined the morphology of N. cinerea collected from a diverse array of habitat types (creeks, canals, ponds) in order to explore possible morphological adaptations to the habitat. We addressed the following specific questions: (i) is there any morphological differences between specimens collected from distinct habi- tats, and if so, (ii) is it possible to relate differences in morphology of the N. cinerea to char- acteristics of the habitat structure? Altogether 121 individuals (69 males and 52 females) were sampled from 17 sampling sites in the catchment area of Lake Balaton (Hungary). 54 body parameters were determined on all individuals. According to five habitat parameters (bottom quality, current velocity of the water, water depth, submerse plant density, shad- ing) sampling sites were clustered into two distinct groups. Submerse plant density proved to be the most important discriminating factor between the two groups. -

The accuracy of food web and ecosystem models rests on the reliability of the information on the feeding habits of the species involved. Water boatmen (Corixoidea) is the most diverse superfamily of water bugs (Heteroptera: Nepomorpha), frequently the most abundant group of insects in a variety of freshwater habitats worldwide. In spite of their high biomass, the importance of water boatmen in aquatic ecosystems is fre- quently underestimated. The diet and feeding habits of Corixoidea are unclear as published data are frequently contradictory. We summarise information on the feeding habits of this taxon, which exemplify the diffi culties in evaluating published data on feeding habits in an invertebrate taxon. -

Nevertheless, systematic research of this group has been underdeveloped in Slo- vakia (central Europe) for decades. This work presents a list of water bug species of Slovakia based on an exhaustive re- view of the literature (time span: 1808–2013) and on more than 14,000 individuals collected during extensive field campaigns (2010–2014) or obtained from insect collections. Long-Term Biomonitoring of Alpine Waters in the Swiss National Park

Robinson & Beat Oertli Keywords: glacier, Swiss Alps, streams, ponds and lakes, Coleoptera, Trichoptera, Chironomidae, Ephemeroptera Abstract Profile This paper summarizes the initial results from the long-term monitoring program Protected area of running and standing waters in a high elevation cirque landscape (Macun Lakes) in the Swiss National Park. The region comprises two contrasting basins Swiss National Park with different water sources, a glacier-fed basin and a precipitation-fed basin. Monitoring encompasses annual measures of physico-chemistry of the waters along Mountain range with samples of macroinvertebrates in midsummer. Monitoring was initiated in 2001 when the area was annexed to the park. Preliminary results indicate the high Alps sensitivity of alpine waters and biota to changes in climate. Results from the stream measures suggest a shift in physico-chemistry (warmer waters, decreases in nitrogen Country constituents) and zoobenthos (taxa and density decreases) over time that reflected the differences and changes in water source in each basin. Results from the pond Switzerland monitoring showed the rapid response of these small water bodies to alterations in air temperature and pluviometry. The pond data also demonstrated a strong spatial heterogeneity between ponds in both physico-chemistry and macroinvertebrate composition. The monitoring of both streams and ponds provides a holistic picture of abiotic and biotic changes of alpine waters to landscape and climate change.
