I found some criteria for early- warning signs of antisemitic, bigoted and genocidal activities. I included a summary of neo-Nazi and white supremacy groups in modern American and then moved to a more specific focus on contemporary and prominent groups like Atomwaffen Division, the Proud Boys, the Vinlanders Social Club, the Base, Rise Against Movement, the Hammerskins, and other prominent antisemitic and hate-driven groups. Trends of hate-speech, acts of vandalism and acts of violence within the past fifty years were examined. Also, how law enforcement and the legal system has responded to these activities has been included as well. The different methods these groups use for indoctrination of younger generations has been an important aspect of my research: the consistent use of hate-rock and how hate-groups have co-opted punk and hardcore music to further their ideology. Live-music concerts and festivals surrounding these types of bands and how hate-groups have used music as a means to fund their more violent activities have been crucial components of my research as well. The use of other forms of music and the reactions of non-hate-based artists are also included. The use of the internet, social media and other digital means has also be a primary point of discussion. -

"Taking It Back, Making It Strong!": The Boundary Establishment And Maintenance Practices Of A Montréal Anti-Racist Skinhead Gang 9833181 Department of Sociology McGill University For the Completion of the Requirements for the Master of Arts Program Final Draft – September 25, 2002 Committee Members: Dr. Lucia Benaquisto Dr. Prue Rains Research Supervisor: Dr. Prue Rains 2 INTRODUCTION For nearly two decades, the skinhead subculture has been nearly universally associated with the most vile manifestations of racism and violence imaginable. As evidenced by popular culture1, racism is a fundamental component of the mainstream definition of skinhead. It may come as a surprise, then, to discover that not only did the skinhead subculture emerge from uniquely multicultural and multiracial origins and not only are the overwhelming majority of skinheads non-racists, but that a very significant proportion of participants in the skinhead subculture actively identify themselves as anti- racist. One such grouping of anti-racist skinheads was the Montréal chapter of Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice (SHARP). Montréal's first SHARP chapter began in 1991 and folded approximately two years later. In 1996, Montréal racist skinheads began a protracted campaign of ambushes and armed assaults on non- and anti-racist skinheads, culminating in a series of "bar raids" in the summer of 1998 that sent over thirty people to emergency rooms. In response to this threat, SHARP Montréal reformed in late July 1998 (SHARP Montréal, 1999) and consisted of a fairly stable group of around two dozen young men and women. As members of an anti-racist skinhead gang2 SHARP members establish their identities as such in both mainstream and subcultural social settings, and, in doing so, 1 Any number of television programs (Law & Order), movies (American History X, Crimson River, Romper Stomper) and even video games (Sony Playstation 2’s Soldier Of Fortune and State Of Emergency) depict skinheads as being synonomous with racists. -

During this time a right wing political group known as the National Front NF started using skinheads as pawns polititians both right and left have tried using the scene for their own gain. Shortly a new breed of punk music was born thanks to bands like the cockney rejects, this music was called "OI! Today there seems to be a new trend of extreme left wing skins, redskins, communist,socialist,anarchist, who seem to be being used by politics yet again, most however grow up and realize extremist politics are a no win game. -

CHAPTER 3 Committing Hate Who and Why hat images come to your mind when you read the words hate crimes? Red-necked, white-robed men burning crosses? Gangs of W skinheads attacking people of color? Swastika-bedecked neo-Nazis toting copies of Mein Kampf and shouting “Sieg Heil!”? All these are part of the reality of bias in America. The truth, however, is that they make up only a small part of the hate crimes that occur. Contrary to popular notions, most hate crimes are not committed by members of organized white supremacist groups (J. Levin, 2002; Levin & McDevitt, 1993; Ryan & Leeson, 2011). Most, in fact, are committed by people very similar to those you might see sitting in almost any high school or college classroom: teenagers and young adults who are unaffiliated with any racist organization. In fact, hate crimes on campus are a serious problem (Downey & Stage, 1999; Levin & McDevitt, 1993; Wieland, 2007; see In Focus 3.1). IN FOCUS 3.1 Hate on Campus In a report issued in 2001, the Department of Justice concluded that hate crimes on college campuses are a serious problem. The report also concludes that noncriminal acts of prejudice and harassment are common on campuses. Very few hate crimes on campus get reported, so their true extent is unknown, but they occur at colleges and universities of all sizes and in all locations. Hate crimes and harassment are also common at elementary, junior, and high schools. Stotzer & Hozellmann (2012) found that reported hate crimes are less frequent on Draft Proofcampuses that have- Dodiverse faculty not and studentcopy, bodies. -
