Did you notice? Read Fr. Bob’s column. Audio Team As our Music Ministry ensembles continue to grow, there is another part to Music Ministry that we need to give some attention to. We need to build up a team of parishioners who can run the audio mixer board that sits in the back of the church between the Baptismal Font and the Reconciliation Chapel. The ideal is that there is always someone at the audio console during every weekend Mass. Being able to hear both the spoken and sung word of God is the top priority. If you are interested in being a part of this team, please contact Patrick ~ see page 3 for more details

Mass of Remembrance Tuesday, October 31 at 6pm You are invited to remember loved ones who have died at our annual Mass of Remembrance. We honor their memorial and their faith, handed down to us as our heritage. Come a little early to place a picture of your loved ones (no larger than 4x6) that will be displayed during the Mass. Let us pray that they are now in the presence of God as his beloved saints.

Register Now for the Women’s Conference Saturday, November 4 at the Lansing Center. The conference is from 9AM - 5PM. Cost is $60, $50 for seniors, and includes Mass with Bishop Boyea. The theme of the conference comes from St. Paul’s letter to the Romans 8:15 “For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba Father!” it is that very spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.” Join many women from St. Jude who will be taking this day to spend enriching our faith relationship with God and with other Catholic women. Please register now at this website: www.lansingdiocesecwc.org P.S. Babes in arms are welcome to come with their Moms

Our love of God is best demonstrated by our love of neighbor. Jesus underlines the close and inseparable bond between our love of God and of neighbor. Loving God is not simply a pious or cerebral act, but a lived reality, carried out in the events of daily life. It is our witness to the love of God that will draw others into the mystery of his loving presence in the world. The writer of Exodus reminds the Israelites of their duty toward the foreigner, Exodus 22:20-26, the poor, the orphan and the widow in their midst. Saint Paul, 1 Thessalonians 1:5c-10, reminds us that it is the Spirit that turns the human heart away from worldly idols to faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus summarizes the Gospel, Matthew 22:34-40, message as love of God and love of neighbor. Question of the Week: In a pracƟcal sense, what is one thing that would change in your life if you loved your neighbor as yourself?

We continue to move forward with the planning for the new building construction. As you can see we have removed a few of our trees in the construction area. Thank you to Ray Taylor, Tom Nitzsche, Jim Mahoney, Todd Brown, Jerry Jackson, Jim Kraus, Dave Fuller, Pat Schneider, Dan Smith, Bill Kost, and Tony Nahar for putting up with the rain on Saturday and removing the trees. As far as practical, we will attempt to utilize the skills of our parishioners to assist us in this building project. The Parish Finance Council has approved the contract of Swanson Design Studios as the architect and has forwarded the contract to the diocese for their approval. The Diocese has returned to us $216,000 from the Witness to Hope campaign as of the quarter ending June 30, 2017. By the end of the year we will receive another payment for our portion of the funds received by September 30, 2017. Thank you for maintaining or speeding up your payments to the Witness to Hope campaign. The sooner we receive your funds the sooner we begin construction!
