JUNIOR CERT: Congratulations and well done to all who received their Junior Cert results during the week. JESUS AND YOUR MOBILE PHONE! I had a few days break this past week. Fantastic days and lovely weather. I called in on a lovely Church in West Cork which had the following notice on its Notice Board. “WHEN YOU ENTER THIS CHURCH IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT YOU ‘HEAR THE CALL OF GOD’. HOWEVER, IT IS UNLIKELY THAT HE WILL CALL YOU ON YOUR MOBILE. THANK YOU FOR TURNING OFF YOUR PHONE. IF YOU WISH TO TALK TO GOD, ENTER, CHOOSE A QUIET PLACE AND TALK TO HIM. IF YOU WANT TO SEE HIM IN PERSON, SEND HIM A TEXT MESSAGE WHILE DRIVING”. KEEP IN MIND Here are two sayings well worth keeping in mind this weekend – and indeed always. “The Lord is my light and my help and I shall travel safely on the journey of my life”. The second is magic and don’t forget it, “When all your tasks are finished, sleep well – Jesus is awake” We must never, never forget Jesus is always in charge! EXCLUSIVE! TRUMP THAT! President Donald Trump got wind earlier this week that Cooraclare are playing Doonbeg in Kilrush this Sunday in the Quarter Final of the Clare Senior Football Championship. The question ‘WHO IS JESUS?’ is the underlying one behind the beautiful stories in the Gospel. This weekend that question is asked explicitly. As your P.P. now for over 38 months, I have to ask myself what kind of Jesus I have placed before you in that length of time. Going back to the early Christian communities, the answer to this question was the fact that Jesus died, apparently a failure, abandoned by his close friends and companions, and perhaps even by God. His subsequent delightful and loving presence among the group of Disciples that abandoned Him is described by a number of terms in the New Testament……….RESURRECTION, EXALTATION, GLORIFICATION. So who is Jesus to you? After life here and after death would you love to meet and stay with him forever? Yes! I hear you say! - great, then you know what you have to do – meet, greet and experience him in Vigil or Sunday Eucharist. You are most welcome to come as you are and not as you would like to be and hear Jesus ask you softly and tenderly “who am I” ? HOW CLEAN IS YOUR HEART? Sin is not only outside us but also inside us. It is the heart. How can one describe and sum up the heart. Darkness of heart is the blackest of all. A heavy heart is most wearisome of all; a cold-hearted person is like a fireplace without a fire. The heart is like a well-spring, all our thoughts, words and deeds flow from there like a hidden spring. If the spring is polluted, polluted water flows out, but if the spring is pure and clean the water that flows will be clean and wholesome. “Blessed are the clean of heart, they shall see God”.
