His other 62 came earlier this year at the Waste Management Phoenix Open (T6). Steele previously held the first-round lead/co-lead at the 2011 Frys.com Open (T7) and 2013 RBC Canadian Open (T68). Steele’s previous best round at TPC River Highlands was a round two 64 in 2011. Steele’s finishes at the Travelers Championship: 2011/T13, 2012/MC, 2013/T13. Steele has made 11 of 18 cuts on TOUR this season with two top 10s (T6/Waste Management Phoenix Open and T10/Northern Trust Open). Steele, who has traditionally used a long putter on TOUR, made the switch back to a short putter for the first round of the Travelers Championship. Steele has recorded just two of 11 rounds in the 70s at the Travelers Championship. As an avid fan of the Los Angeles Kings, Steele attended Games 1 and 5 of their run to the Stanley Cup last week.
