June, 2019

June 2 777th Sunday of Easter This and That from Dr. J. “If I Believe, Why Do I Doubt?” The Michigan Annual Conference will meet May 30-June 2, 2019 in the Grand Matthew 11:2 Traverse Resort in Acme, Michigan. As most of you are aware, as a result of the Susie Hagenstein special called session of the General 2019 Conference, our Michigan Conference will be addressing many important decisions which will affect every annual conference and local church. June 9 We will also be electing delegates to the General Conference for the largest Pentecost legislative decision-making body in our denomination. As noted in the Michigan Graduate Recognition “Let Him Play His Statement, “These persons we recommend are people of deep faith in God and will Song” faithfully represent the Michigan Conference with a strong commitment to a United Acts 19:119:1----7777 Methodist Church that is open to all in response to the teachings and life of Jesus.” Pray for Tom and Carol Cerny, who are our Lay Members to the Annual Conference. Rev. Laurie and I will also represent GBUMC. Keep us in your prayers as we do June 16 God’s work among Christian friends. BEGIN SUMMER Lastly, please remember that starting June 16, Father’s Day, we will have one WORSHIP worship service each Sunday during the summer months. We will also offer Junior 10:00AM ONLY! This September, our church will be offering Disciple Bible Study groups for persons interested in and committed to an intensive individual/group study of God’s word, from Genesis to Revelation. DISCIPLE is unlike many other Bible studies in that its purpose is not just informational, but also calls participants to closely examine Scripture, be changed by it, and challenged to discover their role as disciples of Jesus Christ. Group members will purchase their own study manual to use in preparation for the weekly group meeting. The study manual contains background information to the assigned Scripture readings and serves as a plan to guide private study at home. The study groups will meet for 34 weeks; however, in an attempt to accommodate busy schedules, the sessions will be 1 hour in length. One group will meet on Sundays from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, following worship beginning September 15th. Another group will meet Tuesday afternoons, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, beginning September 17th. Childcare will be provided. Sample lesson booklets are available for your preview. If you are interested or have further questions about Disciple Bible Study, contact Laurie Tritten, 694-1381, or [email protected]. Sign-up sheets will be posted on the kiosk located in Fellowship Hall. Please join us on Sunday, June 9 as HELLO EVERYBODY!! we recognize our 2019 graduates.
