introduction to our list

Welcome! The program at black & blue has been designed to make the most of your experience by providing the best value in an array of styles, brands and price, so don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with many of the producers. That said, we also wanted to incorporate many big names and known producers as well as up and coming regions and the latest wine trends, this way you have the opportunity to have your favorite bottle or try something you just read about.

The list itself is categorized by TYPE of wine with Sparkling and White listed in the front and Red Wines listed in the back. The list is then categorized by , or “type” of , which is also sorted from LIGHT to FULL-bodied throughout the list. Additionally, in the very front are some featured wines BY-THE-GLASS. We have a wonderful Coravin system that makes it possible to have wines available to try by the glass that usually are only available by the bottle.

The core philosophy of our restaurant is that wine is simply an extension of the meal enhancing your experience with us. There aren’t any wrong choices when it comes to wine, just some that are more to your personal taste. Because of this belief, our whole team is prepared to answer questions and assist in choosing the right wine for you.

Sincerely,

The black & blue team

selections

Thanks to the Coravin System we now have the freedom to pour a single glass of wine from any bottle without opening it. This system protects the wine from oxidation using Coravin’s proprietary technology, which leaves the in place while the wine is poured. This system gives us the ability to share some finer wines you wouldn’t typically find by the glass. Below are our selections we would like to share with you; all pours are six ounces.

2017 Boundary Breaks Semi-Dry ‘Reserve 198’, Seneca Lake, New York Glass $15/Bottle $58

Boundary Breaks has been referred to as the “Break-out ” of the by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and after tasting their ‘198 Reserve Riesling’ it is no wonder why. With a heavy focus on creating classic which are representative of Seneca Lake , ‘198’ is one of the stars of the show. Featuring complex notes of honey and lavender, with white flowers, orange zest, and fresh peaches, this wine strikes a perfect balance between the refreshing, vibrant acidity and a touch of residual sugar which adds to the overall complexity. The exotic aromatics of this wine make it a perfect pairing for both our Tuna Tartare appetizer and the Tuna entrée.

2012 , Napa Valley, California Glass $22/Bottle $85

2012 was a landmark year in Napa Valley, and this Chardonnay from Cakebread Cellars does it justice. Delightfully fragrant aromas of ripe pear, apple, and guava fruit complemented by hints of honeysuckle, mineral, and toasted . Bold and beautifully balanced, this wine is showing extremely well right now. Pair with our Snapper Entrée, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Lobster, or our Crab & Lobster Fondue.

2017 Miraval of Cinsault, , , & Rolle, Côtes de Provence, Franc Glass $14/Bottle $58

The product of a partnership between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this rosé’s “celebrity status” isn’t the only thing going for it. Lovely pale pink in color, the wine exhibits aromas of citrus, red fruits, and white flowers. A balanced and elegant palette of crisp fruit gives way to a lingering floral finish with a touch of salinity that would pair well with anything from our Raw Bar, our Lobster Salad, or our Scallops entrée.

2016 Flowers , Sonoma Coast, California Glass $25/Bottle $99

Joan and Walt Flowers founded their winery nearly 30 years ago on the rugged Sonoma Coast, an area that they believed would be excellent for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They were soon proven right, and paved the way for other great producers in the area. Flowers practices a mix of biodynamic and organic farming in the for healthy soil and minimal intervention in the cellar to showcase the purity of the fruit and the beauty of the land. Aromas of cranberry, raspberry and plum are woven with top-notes of anise and coastal redwood spice. Broad tannins compliment the bright acidity that leads into a long, fresh finish. An excellent and versatile wine that pairs well with our Salmon, as well as the Filet Mignon.

This yields a powerfully complex wine that is also approachable and balanced enough to enjoy with a great meal. The Cade ‘Howell Mountain’ Cabernet is a deep purple in the glass, with aromas of mulberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, blackcurrant, and blackberry fruit, graphite, and spice.
