Veronica Helgeland 951.955.5835 John Michael Montgomery To FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Veronica Helgeland 951.955.5835 John Michael Montgomery to “Rope the Moon” on Valentine’s Day Indio, Ca- The Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is thrilled to announce AMA award-winning, country superstar John Michael Montgomery will be performing at the 63rd Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February, 14, 2009 at the Fantasy Springs Concert Pavilion at 8 pm. What started off as a traditional family band, turned to endless opportunities and much success for John Michael Montgomery. Staying loyal to his roots, John Michael Montgomery turned down the opportunity to move to Nashville, Tennessee by choosing to stay in Kentucky where he was born and raised. An artist with such passion and strong emotional views on love, family and patriotism, he has written many chart- topping and award-winning songs strengthening his position as one of the most versatile and compelling vocalists on the country scene. Shortly after arriving on the country music scene in 1993, his debut album, “Life’s a Dance,” became the only million-seller on the country charts by a new artist that year. The following years, John earned two of Billboard’s Number One country singles of the year: "I Swear" in 1994 and "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" in 1995. Signing with labels such as Atlantic Records, which later turned to Warner Brothers, brought much insecurity to his career. John Michael Montgomery is one of a Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival 82-503 Hwy 111, Indio, CA 92201 Toll-Free 800.811.FAIR Fax 760.863.8973 www.datefest.org -Page 2- handful of long-established stars able to take the next step by becoming the founder and executive of his own label – Stringtown Records in 2007. John Michael Montgomery launched his first album as Stringtown Records in 2008 and is looking to expand Stringtown’s reach by opening the door for other artists. John Michael Montgomery released 13 albums in just 16 years. The success of his music was recognized as he received several awards from the start of his career. Some of his awards include American Music Award, Best New Artist (1994); American Songwriters Magazine, Country Artist of the Year (1994); ACM, Top New Male Vocalist (1994); Billboard’s, Top County Male Artist (1995); Grammy nominee for Best Male Vocalist (1996); and many more. John Michael Montgomery has big dreams for his record label, not only for himself, but for other inspiring artists alike. Fairgoers will fall in love all over again under the stars this Valentine’s Day with John Michael Montgomery. The 63rd Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the deserts leader in gaming and entertainment. With the Newshour at 4pm, you will now have a full, uninterrupted 4 hours of news and information each weekday, to help you stay ahead of what is happening in our world and nation. In addition, the PBS Newshour will also be seen each weeknight at 11pm. Following the Newshour at 5pm, KNPB is proud to introduce NHK Newsline. This 30 minute world news report is produced by NHK, which is Japan’s PBS. NHK Newsline fills the time period which had been occupied by Tavis Smiley, which continues in its midnight time slot. Weekdays at 3pm you will enjoy the repeat of a prime-time program. Please consult this guide and our website, www.knpb.org, for the schedule. And finally, beginning Feb. 19 Pinkalicious & Peterrific, a new children’s program designed for ages 3-5 will debut at 6am and 11:30am. This new program is focused on creative arts and self-expression. We have made these changes after analyzing our ratings, viewing habits and audience feedback all of which are very important to us.
