We are incredibly pleased to report that as we celebrate our 2 nd anniver- sary of re-opening of the pool it continues to be extremely well supported by the local community. Despite the necessary Covid 19 restrictions the response has been very encouraging. Thank you so much to all our sup- porters, staff, ‘pledgers’ donators and community volunteers. COLOUR ME! This is all particularly good news at what has been a turbulent time. At the end of 2019 there was an existential threat from accrued debts and oper- ating losses but the combination of this grant and efforts by our team to reduce operating losses means that we can now say with some confi- dence that, all things being equal, the immediate future of the pool is guaranteed. While there is no room for complacency, we can continue to provide a safe environment for leisure and exercise and maintain local employment opportunities.

We hope you will come along and swim with us in the near future. Please remember to book in advance because numbers are limited, and some sessions are over-subscribed. Please check our website for the revised operating guidelines and the new timetables. Above all enjoy your pool.

HORNBY ART GROUP

It is so very disappointing that our group meetings con- tinue to be on hold. I wonder if any of you have been inspired to tackle one or more of the suggestions that I put forward in September? If you remember, they were:

A. “Over the garden wall” Either from the outside looking in or vice versa. This could involve your own garden or someone else’s.

B. Brown * Think of brown furred creatures, such as hares, rabbits, mice or domestic pets i.e. dogs or cats. * Feathered creatures such as chickens, owls, sparrows etc. * Monochrome pictures painted using burnt umber. * Seed heads or Autumn leaves.

I enclose a photograph of my own painting of “Over the Garden Wall.”

If any of you have a finished painting of one of the above suggestions, perhaps you could take a photograph of it and send it to me.

I will try to include it in next months Contact.

Ann Nash 015242 22595

Final date for inclusion in the Dec/Jan 2021 edition is 19th November.
