Blendle signs The Times, The Journal and

Dutch startup Blendle has announced that it has signed deals with , and The Washington Post. Those will soon be available on innovative digital newsstand Blendle; the first company to successfully implement micro-payments for journalism.

The company operates a digital newsstand (blendle.com[blendle.com]) selling individual articles from newspapers and to internet users. The company was founded in 2013 by two now 28-year-old former journalists, Alexander Klöpping and Marten Blankesteijn, and launched its service in the ten months ago.

"We're very excited about having The Wall Street Journal available in Blendle", said Katie Vanneck-Smith, Chief Customer Officer and Global Managing Director of . “It’s a great addition to our own subscription products as it provides customer choice by offering a pay per article alternative to full membership.”

Today, Blendle users can discover and read articles from practically all Dutch newspapers and magazines, only paying for the individual articles they read. Users can buy articles with one click and can always have the amount they paid refunded if they if they don’t like what they read.

On average an article costs 20 cents on Blendle. The pricing per article is set by the publisher.

The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The New York Times will be available to Blendle's 220.000 users in The Netherlands in the coming weeks. Other countries will follow soon. "Blendle will expand internationally this year", Klöpping said. Users outside of the Netherlands can apply for an invite at blendle.com[blendle.com].
