Con la DGR del 25 gennaio 2010 n. 14-13100 la Regione Piemonte ha previsto l’accorpamento di alcuni progetti di lotta alle zanzare. In seguito alla rinuncia dell’incarico da parte del precedente Referente Tecnico Scientifico, IPLA ha proposto di procedere all’accorpamento dei progetti di Veruno e Verbania già a partire dalla stagione 2010. Questo ha permesso la riduzione dei costi previsti, in proporzione all’eliminazione di un referente scientifico ed alla sua sostituzione con un tecnico di campo. Il progetto copre un territorio di 11.751 ettari e con circa 53.000 abitanti. L’intero progetto, finanziato dalla Regione Piemonte al 50%, come previsto dalla Legge Regionale 75/95 secondo i parametri dettati dalla D.G.R. 67-9777 e coordinato da IPLA, prevede interventi su ambiti territoriali prevalentemente urbani e rurali per provvede al contenimento delle diverse specie culicidiche. L’impostazione non si è discostata da quella adottata negli anni passati. La finalità della presente relazione è anche divulgativa, pertanto ove possibile, allo schema base sono state aggiunte spiegazioni e considerazioni necessarie a renderne più agevole la lettura. La spiegazione dettagliata della metodologia di lavoro oltre che una descrizione delle diverse specie di zanzara riscontrate sono presenti nelle precedenti relazioni e pertanto non vengono ripetute essendo tali relazioni a disposizione degli utenti sul sito del Comune di Verbania. Italo Bertocchi Relazione finale campagna 2010 Pagina 2 SINTESI DELLA SITUAZIONE RISCONTRATA NELLA CAMPAGNA 2010 Il Progetto di Lotta biologica alle Zanzare attivo in sei comuni della sponda piemontese del Lago Maggiore, Verbania, Baveno, Stresa, Meina, Dormelletto e Castelletto Sopra Ticino, ha visto con il 2010 il compimento dell’ottavo anno di attività. Nel 2003 sono state avviate le attività di. • monitoraggio dei focolai di sviluppo larvale, • censimento della popolazione culicidica adulta con trappole alla CO 2, • campagna informativa. Nel 2004 sono state avviate le attività di: • trattamento dei focolai larvali di zanzare con Bacillus thuringiensis, • monitoraggio della presenza della zanzara tigre ( Aedes albopictus), • educazione ambientale nelle scuole. Quest’anno (2010) per la prima volta sono state avviate nel Comune di Verbania le attività di: • rappresentazione teatrale “Arrestiamo la tigre” per 200 alunni della scuola elementare. • Controllo catture effettuate con Mosquito Magnet, • censimento dei tombini con acqua, presenti su suolo pubblico o privato aperto al pubblico, • trattamento degli stessi, La campagna informativa di quest’anno è stata condotta con le seguenti modalità: organizzazione di un evento con una compagnia teatrale proveniente da Torino per 200 alunni di 6 classi III, 5 classi IV e una classe V elementare terzo circolo di Verbania; stampa di locandine e volantini sulla base della campagna contro la zanzara tigre proposta da IPLA “…arrestiamola” ; proseguimento del progetto di educazione ambientale “Gli acchiappazanzare”. Come per lo scorso anno gli incontri, proposti alle scuole elementari e medie inferiori dei Comuni aderenti al progetto, hanno visto l’adesione di 16 classi. Italo Bertocchi Relazione finale campagna 2010 Pagina 4 ASPETTI CLIMATICI Gli aspetti climatici influenzano molto la diffusione delle specie zanzare presenti, in quanto le basse temperature ne rallentano la diffusione e l’attività (diminuisce la fastidiosità) mentre l’alta piovosità crea nuovi focolai larvali. Questi elementi differiscono però da specie a specie: nel corso del 2010 l’alta piovosità ha facilitato la diffusione di Aedes vexans presso la Piana di Fondotoce ma ha limitato il numero di zanzare appartenenti alla specie Ochlerotatus caspius che solitamente colpivano le passeggiate a lago. Nel 2010 si è verificata una situazione opposta all’anno 2003 (primo anno di progetto) quando la piovosità era stata minima e vi erano state alte temperature per un lungo periodo (tre mesi). Nei grafici che seguono una rappresentazione dei dati raccolti dalla stazione climatica del CNR di Verbania Pallanza negli anni di progetto. Per facilitare il confronto tra diverse stagioni i dati degli anni 2004/2009 sono stati raggruppati. Uno studio approfondito dell’influenza dei fattori climatici sulla diffusione delle zanzare nel territorio di progetto richiede di valutare anche altri elementi, quali ad esempio la direzione e la velocità del vento, il livello del lago per valutare l’allagamento di aree normalmente asciutte della palude di Fondotoce, ecc.. Difficile, anche avendo a disposizione tutti i dati, riuscire a spiegare e a prevedere il comportamento delle diverse specie di zanzare. Italo Bertocchi Relazione finale campagna 2010 Pagina 6 MAPPATURA DEI FOCOLAI DI SVILUPPO LARVALE L’attività di mappatura del territorio viene svolta principalmente il primo anno di progetto. Negli anni successivi nuovi focolai vengono con difficoltà individuati, l’attività principale diviene il monitoraggio costante dei focolai precedentemente individuati ed eventualmente il loro trattamento. Il monitoraggio consiste nel recarsi presso i focolai con regolarità (ogni 7 / 15 gg) e prelevare un campione di circa un litro di acqua dal focolaio con un apposito campionatore (“mestolo”), e visivamente contare e prelevare le larve di zanzara con una pipetta. Le larve prelevate vengono poi classificate con l’uso di un microscopio. Nella primavera del 2010 si è avuto un evento inatteso, la propagazione di zanzare della specie Aedes vexans nella Piana di Fondotoce (Comune di Verbania). L’attività svolta ha permesso di individuare ampi nuovi focolai (attivi e potenziali) che in futuro potranno essere fattivamente controllati. PIONEER (PIedmOnt NEt for Educational Robotics) is a schoolnet for K-12 "Educational use of robotics" project originated and carried out by primary school teachers and headmasters. Its goal is to promote Papert's constructionism in a cooperative environment for setting up a model of mini- robot programming experiences in support to the standard curricula covered in school years K-12. Here we concentrate on primary school activities where educational aspects concerned by using small robots fill a long list. Three open water stations were selected to reflect truly pelagic, influenced by littoral and riverine carbon sources; phytoplankton samples were collected from two water depths, 0-20 m and 25-50 m. Among stations dif- ferences in δ13C signatures of seston were statistically non significant, confirming that allochthonous input may become important only after exceptional rainfall events. Nonparametric multiplicative regression (NPMR) was utilized to identify among the phytoplankton parameters (taxonomic groups, MBFG, cell shapes, cell sizes) which were the best predictors of the δ13C variation. Bacillariophyceae and two morpho-functional groups, Group 6 (non-flagellated organisms with siliceous exoskeletons) and Group 3 (large filamentous algae with aerotopes) were statistically significant. Non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMS) ordination was used to investigate dif- ferences in phytoplankton samples and their relationship with δ13C variation.
