For technical support, contact us at 1-800-268-6237 or www.summerinfant.com/contact Ages 6-24 Months INSTRUCTION MANUAL CUSTOM FIT WALK-THRU GATE Thank you for buying the Custom Fit Walk Thru Gate from Summer Infant. This gate expands up to 141” without any additional purchases required. The Custom Fit Walk Thru Gate can fit multiple configurations with ease of use. This hardware-mount gate helps you create and maintain a secure environment for your child. It has a convenient walk-thru door that opens easily in either direction with a one hand operation. The hardware easily mounts in place for quick installation. It has a child-resistant latch for added security. WARNING: • To prevent serious injury or death, securely install gate or enclosure and use according to manufacturer’s instructions. • Never use with a child able to climb over or dislodge the gate or enclosure. • Never leave child unattended. • Use only with the lock securely engaged. • To prevent falls, never use at the top of stairs. • Do not use if any components are missing or damaged. • Do not use on uneven surfaces. • Periodically check all hinge knobs to ensure they are tight and secure. • This product will not necessarily prevent all accidents. Proper adult supervision is required at all times. • This product contains small parts. Adult assembly is required. Exercise care when unpacking and assembling the product. FEATURE & COMPONENTS: 3 Panel Gate For openings 65” – 86” (165 cm - 218 cm) use 2 panels. For openings greater than 96” - 141” (245 cm - 358 cm) use 3 panels. Wall Templates (2 on 1 sheet) Upper Wall Upper Connection Hinge Hinges (2) ONLY FOR USE WITH ADDITIONAL GATE Lower Lower Connection Hinge Wall ONLY FOR USE WITH Hinges (2) ADDITIONAL GATE Feet (2) Wood Screws (8) Wall Anchors (8) 2 SET UP: For openings 65” - 86” (165 cm - 218 cm), refer to “TO ASSEMBLE USING ONLY TWO PANELS” section first before proceeding. Step I: Cut out Wall Templates. Note: For two Panel configuration, use “2” Panel Template for attaching gate section to the wall, and the “3” Panel Template for the Panel Section. For three Panel configuration, use the “3” Panel Template for both wall attachments. Place it against the wall , bottom even with the floor, making sure that sides are vertical and straight (Figure A). Next, tape it temporarily in place (you will need to use the Wall Template more than once). Note: Once you are sure the Template is straight, mark the screw hole locations by lightly tapping the supplied screw through the hole guides ( ) shown on the Template. Carefully remove the Template for use on the other end of gate. A IMPORTANT NOTE: Screws are provided for mounting the Hinges and Latches directly to wood. If mounting into wallboard, use the Wall Anchors and Screws provided. If you are mounting the gate to another surface, purchase and use the appropriate hardware. Note: If wall anchors are needed: B a) Pre-drill a hole in the wall (3/16" or 5mm drill bit). b) Insert the wall anchors (included) into the hole with a hammer, tap gently on the end until the wall anchor is flush with the wall. Step 2: Mount one Lower Wall Hinge using 2 Wood Screws in the bottom position, marked in Step 1. Be sure that the hinge post faces up as shown in C Figure B. Step 3: Repeat the mounting procedure with the Upper Wall Hinge at the top position, marked in Step 1 Be sure that the Hinge faces up as shown in Figure C. Step 4: Locate wall that the other end of the gate will mount to and repeat Steps 1-3. 3 SET UP (continued): Step 5: Unfold gate panels and attach feet as shown in Figures D and E. Note: Use only this one D on 2 panel configuration E Step 6: Attach one end of gate to Upper and Lower Wall Hinges as shown. You should hear a snap when mounting the Lower Hinge (Figures F and G). Step 7: Open the hook and loop fabric door with “lock” logo on it to access the expansion handles (Figure H). F G Step 8: Rotate expansion handle clockwise until loose and panel is able “lock” to expand freely (Figure I). logo Step 9: Repeat on other panel if necessary until gate reaches Upper and Lower Wall Hinges. H I 4 SET UP (continued): Step 10: Repeat the mounting procedure in Step 6 to connect end panel to wall. Step 11: Turn expansion handle(s) counter-clockwise until tight (Figure J). (Opposite of Step 8). J Step 12: Once both panels are securely mounted to each wall, turn the 4 hinge knobs clockwise to secure gate (Figure K). Step 13: To open door, slide trigger back and lift door panel up to swing door open in either K direction (Figure L). Step 14: To close door, lift door panel up and align over trigger tab and push door panel down to click and lock into place (Figure M). Note: Be sure that the door clip L (located on bottom of door, shown in Figure N) is also aligned before pushing door panel down into place. M door clip N 5 TO ASSEMBLE GATE USING ONLY TWO PANELS: For openings 65” – 86” (165 cm - 218 cm) O Step 1: Unscrew upper knob on Hinge between end panel and door panel (Figure O). Step 2: Squeeze tabs and separate Lower Hinges (Figure P). Step 3: Remove entire end panel P and retain for future use. Step 4: Refer to steps 1-14 in “SET UP” section. 6 TO CREATE A FREE STANDING PLAY YARD USING TWO GATES: Step 1: Remove the two screws from Upper Gate the Upper Gate Hinge on one end panel Hinge and replace with the Upper Connection Hinge (Figure Q). Upper Connection Step 2: Remove the two screws Hinge from the Lower Gate Hinge on the same Q panel and replace it with with the Lower Connection Hinge (Figure R). Lower Gate Hinge Step 3: Repeat steps 1-2 on one of the end panels of the second Lower assembled gate. Connection Hinge R Step 4: Attach ends of each gate by lining up the Upper and Lower Hinges on each gate. The Lower Hinge should snap into place (Figure S). Gate 1 Gate 2 Step 5: Turn the hinge knobs clockwise on each gate to tighten. S 7 MA IN T EN A N CE: 1. Regularly check hinge knobs to make sure the gate is securely in place. 2. Do not use the gate if any components are damaged or missing. 3.
