1 Welcome! To the 31th Annual Tour of the Gila The Silver City/Grant County area would like to extend our warmest welcome to all teams, racers and their family members, and officials. If you are new to the Tour of the Gila, we hope you will enjoy your first race here. We have tried to supply enough information in this race bible so that those who are unfamiliar with the courses will have some idea of what to expect. If you are among the many returning competitors then you already know about the challenges that await you. We also hope you know about the hospitality you may expect here. It is one of the reasons we get so many riders returning annually. Please pay respect to local residents, volunteers, corner marshals, technical support staff, etc.... They all donate their time to make this event happen. Don't be afraid to thank them. 4 GILA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER We, here at in the Emergency Department (ED) at Gila Regional Medical Center, are proud to be serving Sil- ver City and the surrounding area, and are dedicated to excellence in patient care. We wish all participants in the 2016 Tour of the Gila, a safe and exciting time while you are in Grant County.

In the event that you require the services of our Emergency Department and Providers, there are a few things that you should be aware of and have with you in order for us to provide you with the best care possible.

Please have with you: - proper identification - health insurance coverage information, if applicable - current medication list that includes the dose and how often you take it - a list of any adverse side effects or allergies to medications that you have experienced in the past - information about any physical health problems - names and contact information for your primary care provider and medical specialists

With such an amazing event in our community, please understand that we may be experiencing higher vol- umes of patients, and there may be a longer wait time.

Triage is the process of prioritizing sick or injured people for treatment according to the seriousness of the condition or injury. When you see the triage nurse, a decision is made about the seriousness, or “acuity” of your problem, and patients are prioritized per this triage process.

When the Emergency Department is very busy, the more serious problems are seen first. This creates a wait for some patients - we want you to understand why, at times, patients may have to wait longer than anticipat- ed to see a provider.

PLEASE, if you are a patient here in the ED, DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING UNTIL CLEARED BY A PROVIDER. If you require surgery, eating and drinking anything will delay your care.

Our mission is to provide our patients exceptional quality, patient-centered care in a healing environment. We want to make your visit the most pleasant experience possible.

Warning: overtaken by UCI race: There is a good chance that the Men 4,5 and Master B fields will be overtaken by the UCI Men along NM35. If so, the amateur field will be pulled over and stopped completely, being restarted after the UCI race passes. It is essential that riders get completely off the road. Individual riders must also pull off the road when being overtaken. Note to all: NM 15 from Pinos Altos to NM 35 will be closed to non-race vehicular traffic. Use caution; you may still encounter errant traffic.

Feed Zone Directions: From Silver City’s Gough Park, leave before your racer’s start time. Follow US 180 east toward Santa Clara and turn left at junction to NM 152. Proceed northwest on NM 35 about 14 miles(22.5km), between mm 15 and 16, to the feed zone near the Continental Divide. Park along the dirt road. After feeding, do not pass the race caravan. Back- track your way to Silver City then up to Pinos Altos for the finish. Remember, you have 42 miles(67.6km) to drive to Pinos Altos, while the riders have 29 miles(46.7km) to go with some climbs to slow them down.

Finish Procedure: Riders finish on a 0.5 miles(0.8km) hill with the last 150 meters closed to traffic. Those who received wheels from support crews, please exchange them ASAP. Keep finish line clear. Collect all checked-in wheels as quickly as possible from your lead support vehicle. All non-official vehicles must exit race course left onto Spring St.—200 meters before the finish.

Awards: Awards will be given out after the Chief Judge approves of the day’s race results and overall results will be posted next to the finish line. You have 15 minutes to check results. This is your only chance to protest. After 15 minutes, all results are final. RESULTS CANNOT BE CHANGED. Podiums will be held near the finish line for the top three in all the General Classification Categories.
