Last year, it was brought to the attention of the board that Education Code 1006 states that no school district employee can serve on the county board of education. MCOE board member Diane Zucker, elected in 2005, is also an adult education teacher within the Ukiah Unified School District. The code states that people in this situation might have to retire from their position to continue to serve on the board, retire from the board and continue in their other position or continue to do both, and if necessary wait for a legal process to remove them from the board.
