Last year, it was brought to the atten- tion of the board that Education Code 1006 states that no school district employ- ee can serve on the county board of edu- cation. MCOE board member Diane Zucker, elected in 2005, is also an adult education teacher within the Ukiah Unified School District. The code states that people in this situ- ation might have to retire from their posi- tion to continue to serve on the board, retire from the board and continue in their other position or continue to do both, and if necessary wait for a legal process to remove them from the board.
