Now the Lord is the Pastors Blog Archives - 2021 Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, Pastors Blog Archives - 2019 there is freedom.” (:17) Pastors Blog Archives - 2018

The verse from 2 Corinthians is engraved on the wall behind the Spirit of found in the Pastors Blog Archives - 2017 heart of downtown. The verse always causes me to think, “Where is the Spirit of the Lord?” Is it in ? How about the U.S.? 'Like' our page on Facebook to get more SK updates: Instead of the Spirit, I often hear expressions like “My Truth” and “My Rights.” www.facebook.com/shepherdkinglcms We live in a country where the individual is god. I expect this attitude from our nation. I don’t except this attitude from members of the church.

The radial individualism preached to us from the world has worked its way in the hearts and minds of many believers. This is nothing new. St. Paul, in more than one verse, called back the faithful to true discipleship in Christ. Paul wrote, “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.” (1 Corinthians 9:19) “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.” (Romans 15:1) “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5:13). Christians use their freedom to serve others in ’ name.

So how will you use the freedom that was won for you? Will you demand that everything go your way? We are called to a higher standard than the rest of p the world. We cannot allow the sins of self-centeredness enter into the way we treat each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. Please be aware of this temptation and when possible confess this sin to the Lord.

Millions of people, who gave their lives for this country didn’t do it so that we can do whatever our heart desire. We are taught, “frst of all, that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” (1 Timothy 2:1) Therefore pray in assurance that the Lord God is in control of this world. Pray we return to the Lord in humble service to others. Pray that the Spirit of the Lord is upon us, and then we will have true freedom. ~ Pastor Tim
