List of JBCCI Members 63 Message from the President

It’s my honor to share with you this acvies report along with the Audited Financial Report of JBCCI for 1st April, 2019 - 30th June, 2020.

JBCCI scheduled to hold the Elecon of the Board of Directors and the AGM in September 2020, despite all our preparaon we are unable to do this due to the circular issued by Ministry of Commerce direcng all Chambers and Associaons to postpone their Elecon of the Board of Directors/Execuve Commiee and Annual General Meeng (AGM) unl December 2020 due to Covid-19 situaon. In view of this, JBCCI has no other way but to postpone the under preparaon Elecon of the Board of Directors for me being. The Elecon Board of JBCCI will issue a formal noce to this effect as soon as we get government approval.

Following the advent of the corona virus pandemic from end of March in Bangladesh, all our usual acvies and gathering has been stopped. However JBCCI have been doing some limited acvies like webinars even during the exisng Covid-19 pandemic.

One of the main objecves of JBCCI is to aract FDI from Japan. Due to the ongoing pandemic, companies will have to recoup their losses before making any plans for investment or expansion. Government support & incenves for those companies will play a key role in their decision to reach other markets. Already a number of countries in ASEAN & South Asia announced incenve packages to aract FDI.

I strongly believe that it is the high me for Bangladesh government to go for regulatory reforms to improve the bolenecks to aract FDI during post COVID 19 regime. Japanese Investors are always closely watching the Bangladesh government's efforts to improve investment climates & incenve packages for investment. JBCCI is working closely with different stakeholders to support Government to take posive iniave & acon plan to aract FDI from Japanese companies, who consider diversifying their producon to Bangladesh.

Thanking You

Yuji Ando, President, JBCCI
