Ballet company The Royal Ballet Peter and the Wolf, Prokofiev’s musical fairy tale, has been Choreographer Matthew Hart delighting children since 1936. Nearly 60 years later, in 1995, Orchestra Royal Ballet Sinfonia the young choreographer Matthew Hart created a witty Conductor Paul Murphy choreographed version for the Royal Ballet School with designs by Ian Spurling. This production features Sergei Polunin as the The Wolf Sergei Polunin eponymous wolf. Grandfather Will Kemp Hart’s staging is brisk and cheerful, keeping its young cast Peter Kilian Smith moving. The students give quick, precise performances, rushing Duck Charlotte Edmonds crisply into place. A central platform stands in for the tree, giving Bird Laurine Muccioli space for the animals to dance as they take refuge from the Cat Chisato Katsura prowling wolf.
