The aim of our Midwifery Graduate program is to facilitate the transition from student to registered midwife. This is achieved by ensuring the new graduate is supported in the transfer of theoretical knowledge to practice to ensure quality patient outcomes. We ensure Graduates have the clinical support necessary to enhance critical thinking skills and decision making. A collaborative approach to patient care enables the Graduate to work independently in a supported environment. We use a skill-based GRADUATE YEAR PROGRAM competency program to build on existing knowledge. Aim of Program The educator to Graduate ratio and strong preceptor program ensures extensive individualised clinical support throughout your graduate year. The opportunity to rotate through the Birth Suite, Ante/Post- natal ward, SCN and a medical/surgical ward, ensuring graduates consolidate their midwifery and nursing knowledge. Graduates are given generous supernumerary time and a graduated patient load in each new area. 2021 rotations are at the Fitzroy campus.
