This last quarter of 2018 has been a milestone for Metropolis in terms of urban diplomacy worldwide. Among other major events, we celebrated the 4th edition of the Guangzhou Award, we convened the First African Forum of Metropolitan Cities and Regions in the framework of Africities, we actively participated at Urban 20 Summit in Buenos Aires and the AL-LAs Workshop held in Mexico City, and we contributed to the 4th European Metropolitan Authorities forum.

In addition, we managed to promote actions related to capacity building. In the last three months, an online training course on metropolitan governance addressed to our membership was organised, kick-off meetings took place in the framework of two pilot projects, and the City managers Community successfully hosted a gathering during a major event hosted by Barcelona.

Finally, the last quarter of 2018 has seen the launch of a new and fresh corporate website, which aims to respond to the demands of a diverse public.

On behalf of the Secretariat General team, I sincerely thank the collaboration of our members and partners in 2018. I am convinced that 2019 will bring us several opportunities to find common answers to the challenges of metropolisation worldwide and improve the performance of our metropolises, raising their voices to the global agenda.
