There’s lots happening in and around the towns North East of in April so why not drive the loop to Gundagai, Jugiong and Cootamundra one weekend?

First stop is Gundagai, one of ’s most iconic towns. Immortalised in poems and songs alike, Gundagai is still a classic Australian country town with lots to offer in terms of hospitality, heritage and recreation.

Further north, just one minute off the , you’ll find the not so sleepy village of Jugiong. It’s home to some firm travellers’ favourites, the Long Track Pantry and the Sir George.

For a longer stop, the Sir George is so much more than a circa 1852 country pub. Beautifully restored, the Sir George is now home to a restaurant, boutique bar and artisan bakery. There’s even room for the kids to explore and play in the beer garden.

Continue your trip driving through picturesque hills and along winding roads for 35 minutes to find yourself in Cootamundra, another town bursting with country charm.

One of the tourist highlights in Cootamundra is the Captain’s Walk in Jubilee Park. Here you can wander through 42 sculptures of Australian Test Captains and Unaarrimim, a famous Aboriginal cricketer who led the first Australian cricket team tour of England in 1868.
