He was examined by the doctors on 13-9-76 who submitted their report an extract of which is given as under :— "Because of extensive nature of surgery, this should be considered a major and serious operation; Patient may require 4-5 units of blood transfusion in case curative surgery is possible; Because of hazardous nature of operation one or two of close relations should be present; This is more so as he has anxiety neurosis as diagnosed by Dr. Vidya Sagar, Professor of Psychiatry." Thereafter he was transferred to P.G.I. Chandigarh. After examination in the P.G.I, the Doctors felt that his condition was very serious and gave the following leport : — "Operation is major one and involves major risks". As his health had deteriorated very much he could not be operated upon. A hair raising detail of atrocities committed upon him was published in the Indian Express dated 14-5-77 and the Daily Tribune dated 9-5-77.
