There were 3 main business challenges Bacardi was facing: • Complexity: The Bacardi IT landscape is becoming more heterogeneous and integration complexity is at an all-time high. • Increasing Demand: Digital processes and applications rest strongly on integration capabilities, hence, integration flow volume has increased dramatically. • Agility: Digital businesses deliver simple connected digital experiences to customers, partners and employees, thus speed is mandatory.

Bacardi’s objectives were as follows: • Building blocks needed to be constructed for digital businesses in order to reach high level of reusability. • API-driven application architecture needed to be encouraged with the aim of enabling an open integration landscape vs point to point/mediated integrations. • Accelerators needed to be included in the procedures, tools and facilitators to deliver faster new integration scenarios, without overlooking support and operations activities to some extent. • Tools and skills needed to be obtained for integrating modern cloud applications with the existing portfolio and skillset.

What has been done at Bacardi in terms of Digital Transformation relates to the introduction of new tools. The solution provides the required agility to quickly address integration issues, which is directly beneficial to the business.

From a process innovation perspective, since Bacardi utilized the SAP Integration Solution Advisory Methodology Best Practices, it has been possible to achieve the desired standardization in terms of integration, which allows them to move from ad hoc integration projects toward the goal of “self-service integration” that represents business utility.

The use case AMALIA is about improving customer (target outlets) by creating a new sales force automation platform tailored to the specifications of the on-trade channel to be a user friendly toolset, enabling sales employees to make their work more effective.
