Summary of Changes
The following new features have been included in Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS Version 8— Release 6, Modification Level 0: Install Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS connector on IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS to maintain your business in a z/OS environment and simultaneously manage your workload using modern applications like Web Services. New ISPF Panels style to have a quick at-a-glance view of objects in the Application Descriptions and in Current Plan. Reports generated by running batch programs can optionally be sent to other users by email. Automatically retrieving a job log when a job ends in error and Operation Info for Restart and Cleanup. Add dynamic capabilities to your environment by connecting the z/OS controller to a dynamic domain manager installed in the distributed environment. The type of dynamic capabilities depends on the type of workload you plan to run: – If you plan to run existing Tivoli Workload Scheduler jobs dinamically, install the Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS agents with dynamic capabilities and connect the agents to a dynamic domain manager connected to a Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS controller. – If you plan to run both existing Tivoli Workload Scheduler jobs and job types with advanced options dynamically, install the Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS agents with dynamic capabili- ties and Java runtime and connect the agents to a dynamic domain manager connected to a Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS controller. Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS Version 8.6 supports an extended format VSAM data set that can be allocated for JS data sets that exceed 4 GB. New cross dependencies to integrate the workload running on different engines, which can be Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS engines (Controller) or Tivoli Workload Scheduler engines (Master Domain Manager and Backup Master Domain Manager). Defining and scheduling jobs to perform specific tasks, such as database, file transfer, Java, and web services operations. To define an schedule these job types with advanced options, you do not need to have specific skills on the applications where the job runs. The variable substitution mechanism is also allowed for new job types with advanced options. A new parameter, KEEPCOMPDEPS, has been introduced in the BATCHOPT initialization statement that determines the permanence of external dependencies on a completed operation that belongs to occurrences that are still active when a daily plan job is submitted and either extended or replanned. RACF user field: For the AD.UFVAL and CP.UFVAL subresources that you specify in the AUTHDEF initialization statement to protect user fields, support has been provided to protect user fields longer than 54 characters. Define a new RACF profile or use an existing profile and specify, for example, MAXLNTH=80 to ensure that user field names and user field values up to 80 characters are sup- ported.
