The Governors would recover the ball and run out the clock to pick up a 15-13 win over Eastern Antonio Heffner threw for two of his four touchdowns in the Illinois. The Panthers had driven the ball down to the APSU first quarter as Tennessee State built a 24-0 lead en route to a 19 yard line as Bodie Reeder connected on six straight 45-24 win over Eastern Illinois. TSU shut down the Panthers passes. EIU built an early 10-3 lead on a Chevon Walker offense not allowing an EIU first down until the 5:50 mark of 20 yard touchdown and Tyler Wilke field goal.
