Chagford , but I am at present unable to say exactly to which particular branch m of the family he belonged, as at this very period I find any of the name John di f of Hoare scattered among f erent parts England . There was formerly the fi of gure a priest in canonicals , a likeness and representing the deceased , over the i inscr ption , but this was cut off and stolen for the sake of the old brass by some workmen , during the latter part of the last century when the church was un in o dergo g repairs .
