Mount Maunganui is a great place to visit and delighted once again to be the host city for the 2021 Te Ika A Maui North Island Secondary Schools Sevens Tournament. Tauranga has recently passed Dunedin in population to now be New Zealand’s fifth largest (and fastest growing) city. Bay of Plenty Rugby is the third largest rugby province in New Zealand sitting behind Auckland and Canterbury and we have the largest number of players that identify as Maori in New Zealand. Bay of Plenty is the ‘spiritual home’ of Sevens rugby with both the All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens programmes based at the Adams Centre for High Performance. It is an honour to have you in our region. We wish you a spirited and skilful competition, great sportsmanship and camaraderie along with a most enjoyable time.
