ROCKETS IN THE PROS A couple former Rockets had summers to remember in 2018.

UT’s 2018 All-American Ross Adolph was selected by the Mets in the 12th round of the MLB Draft in June, becoming the 46th player in program history to be drafted. In his first professional season, he was named the 2018 Sterling Award winner for the Mets’ Single-A affiliate, the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Mets hand out a Sterling Award to each of their nine minor league affiliates that is intended to honor each team’s most valuable player. He hit .276 for the Cyclones, driving in 35 runs and collecting 28 extra-base hits, including seven home runs. Adolph ranked third in the NYPL in OPS (.857), slugging (.509), and runs scored (47) and also stole 14 bases to boot. He was traded to the organization this winter.

Former Rocket Jared Hoying played last season for the Hanwha Eagles of the KBO League in South Korea, and he had a terrific first year. After a stellar first half, Hoying was rewarded with entries into the league’s home run derby and All-Star Game, per- forming well in both. He placed second in the home run derby and was named the best hitter of the All-Star Game, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Hoying hit .326 with 27 home runs and 97 RBIs in 119 games with Hanwha, ranking in the top 10 in the KBO in homers, RBIs, and stolen bases (20). He was the first Eagles’ player to join the 20-20 club since 2008. He helped lead Han- wha to its first postseason victory in 11 years, a 4-3 win over Nexen, a game in which he hit a home run. 2019 ROSTERS
