SCOTTISH BUILDING women SOCIETY SWPL1 SUNDAY 25TH APRIL 2021 CELTIC KICK-OFF 4:10PM HIBERNIAN FROM THE “ A NOTE But now it’s all about focusing on the next three points available and

MANAGER preparing for a tough test from Hibs. “

It’s been a very tough week. We faced Spartans and then Rangers on a big grass pitch, and now we are welcoming Hibs HIBERNIAN who have been excellent in their last two games. PROFILED Having already played two of the top three sides They only lost by one goal in both games, but they this week, Hibernian’s tough run of fixtures continues had lots of chances so we know it will be a difficult test. with today’s match against Celtic at K-Park. It’s been a very tough week, but so far it’s been two wins and the perfect week so far. Hibs’ restart to the season has been a mixed bag for the side in transition, losing out 2–0 to long-term rivals Spartans, before coming back from behind to beat Motherwell 3–2.

The challenging week for this evening’s visitors began Rangers was a game that would be across the city, at the other side of Glasgow, where they determined by our aggression, determination narrowly lost out 1–0 to Rangers, before Wednesday’s match against Glasgow City finished 2–1 to the league and fighting spirit and the girls were spot on leaders, despite Hibs taking the lead. and they should all be very proud and happy Despite having struggled to replicate their form from to be the only team to have beaten Rangers, seasons gone by, Hibs will still provide a stiff test for the Celts. and now we’ve done it twice.

MANAGER: DEAN GIBSON But now it’s all about focusing on the next three points HOME GROUND: AINSLIE PARK available and preparing for a tough test from Hibs. LAST MEETING SWPL1: Fran Alonso HIBERNIAN 2–6 CELTIC Manager, Celtic FC Women LAST RESULT CELTIC: CELTIC 1–0 RANGERS HIBERNIAN: HIBERNIAN 1–2 GLASGOW CITY CAPTAIN’S COMMENTS This is almost deja vu — we started poorly against Glasgow City and then subsequently built up momentum in September.

We’ve done the exact same thing again and as much as the Glasgow City result was disappointing, the Rangers result at Celtic Park is huge. People wrote us off and we can thank them for that extra bit of motivation going into the game — not that we really needed any.

The occasion was amazing, the squad and staff absolutely class and we need to again take this into Sunday’s game against Hibs. It’s another really important and big game for us as we want to keep the pressure on City and Rangers who are yet to play each other in this round of games.

Hibs seem to have bounced back from their disappointing start and have been unfortunate not to pick up any points in their last two games. They are a good side with very good players so we need to recover from Wednesday and take the same level of energy into Sunday’s fixture.

Thanks,

Kelly

CRAIG: THERE’S NO EASY GAMES IN THIS LEAGUE Chloe Craig shared her belief that there’s no easy games “Every team has improved. Every club has increased in this league, as the Hoops’ hectic schedule gets their input into their women’s team, so we know every well underway. single week that it won’t be easy and each team has good players, so we know we’ll be in for a fight every week. The Celtic vice-captain praised clubs across the board for their renewed commitment to women’s football, as she “That’s what we want though — we don’t want gears up for the intense run ahead. easy games.” MCALLISTER ENJOYING SENIOR CHALLENGE After making an immediate impact from the bench at Spartans, 18-year-old Rebecca McAllister is trusting the process, as she looks to keep fighting for every chance she can get.

“It’s really competitive even just for places in the team, so you know when you get the chance it’s because you deserve it. It’s a really good standard and it makes you better as a player.

“It can be mentally tough sometimes, when you maybe think you’re not getting anywhere, when you’re not getting picked, but you have to be patient. It’s a big jump and we’ve got a big squad of very good players, so you won’t be there every week, but you just need to keep pushing in training.”
