Commercial Department, Khurda Road Division

Role :

The Commercial Department is responsible for the sale of transportation provided by a railway, for creating and developing traffic, for securing and maintaining friendly relations with the travelling and trading public and for cultivating good public relations generally. The fixing of rates, fares and other charges and the correct collection, accountal and remittance of traffic receipts are also among its functions. Redresses of claims and refunds arising out of cancellation of tickets etc., is also the job of the commercial department. Public grievances arising out of unsatisfactory services provided by the Railway and feedback by the customers are registered and redressed by the commercial department. More ever the commercial department is ever inclined to coordinate with other departments of Railways in order to provide better services to the Rail users.

6. FREIGHT OPERATIONS: The goods loading for the month of May-2016 is 9.335 Million Tons as against 8.854 Million Tons during the month of May-2015 registering an increase of 5.4%. The Goods earning for the month of May -2016 is 716.03 Crores as compared to 711.30 Crores during this month of 2015 with an increase of 0.66 %. a) Highest ever goods earnings of KUR division for the FN 2015-16 is Rs. 852. 92 Cr in the month of Oct-2015. b) Highest earnings in a day for the FN-2015-16 s Rs. 44.88 Cr in the month March-15 (31/03/2016) c) Total goods earnings for the FN 2015-16 is Rs. 8663.78 Cr as against Rs. 7118.17 Cr during the FN 2014-15 registering an increase of 21.71 % d) Total goods loading in KUR division in MT for the FN- 2015-16 is 111.19 MT as against 100.97 MT during the FN 2014-15 registering an increase of 10.12 % e) East Coast Railway has become the Largest Freight Loading Railway Zone on 2015- 16 ECoR has loaded 173.49 million tonnes of freight in 2015-16 in which Khurda Road division has contributed 111.19 MT. f) During the month of May-16, a total of 2504 rakes were loaded compared to 2383 rakes during the corresponding period of last year of different commodities from various location of KUR Division. g) During the FN 2015-16, atotal of 29889 rakes were loaded compared to 26936 rakes during the FN 2014-15
