Innovation lives here! CIAA Annual Conference

San Francisco, CA September 20 – 23, 2015

Celebrating 52 years of service This conference program is sponsored by Innovation lives here!

Welcome to and our 52nd annual conference ... nothing can dampen our excitement this week, not even our dollar! It’s my pleasure to host this conference and give back to the CIAA by acting as your director.

San Francisco is a truly great North American city and home to so many iconic landmarks and companies. RMS is one such company. We’re delighted to have Hemant Shah , co-founder and President of RMS, headquartered in Silicon Valley, CA, as our keynote. From a start-up in his apartment, RMS has grown to over 1,200 professionals providing the world's leading catastrophe modelling solutions to the global insurance sector.

Cyber security is (or should be) on everyone’s radar so we invited Michael Bazzell , formerly with the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Force. Michael will educates us on protecting our organizations and ourselves from computer crime.

Rick Keeler, You’ll enjoy sessions from BMO’s chief economist, global credit agency A.M Best, Munich Re to a legal update presented by Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP.

There’s a strong business and social program as you’ve grown to expect. Thanks to my team for making the planning and preparation so smooth ... Brian Clark, Berkley Canada; Antonietta Montisano, RSA Canada; Dave Paterson, Ayr Farmers Mutual; Annette Pohle, PwC LLP; and Glenn Taylor, RBC Insurance .

I also need to single out our sponsors who have stepped up by supporting us with their contributions. It is much appreciated.

As per the CIAA’s tradition, we donate the raffle proceeds to a local charity as our way of saying “thanks” to our host city. We’ve selected La Casa de las Madres (The Home of the Mothers) as our charity. They’ve been making a difference to the lives of women and children in the Bay area for 38 years by providing shelter from domestic violence. Visit them at www.lacasa.org

Enjoy the conference and this fantastic city. I ask that you try to meet some of our new attendees (we have 20) and make them feel welcome. Thanks for your participation and confidence in the CIAA as a provider of quality professional development.
