Ōdaiko no Yakata is a drum museum. It exhibits the world’ s biggest drums and drums from all over the world. There are six big drums with a diameter of over 2 metres. The biggest one has a diameter of 3.8 metres, a depth of 4.52 metres and a weight of 3.5 tonnes. It is acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s biggest drum made only of cow skin. At the museum, there is an exhibition of about 140 drums from 40 countries. You are actually allowed to play them.

The village of the world’ s biggest drum is in North Akita city’ s Tsuzureko district. At Takanosu Roadside Station (Michino Eki), they sell manjyu (sweet bean buns), ramen, and chicken and egg rice (produce in the local Hinai region). As well as eating manjyu, you can see manjyu making demonstrations there. There are also various kinds of soft-serve ice cream available, such as hot chili-pepper, raspberry, and so on. Enjoy Michino Eki Takanosu, which has a broad compilation of local specialties.

Isedoutai Iseki is a religious ceremonial ground, which was made 4000 years ago. You can see a stone circle, Hottatebashira building (stilt house) and facilities for festivals and prayer. With its well-kept condition and high artistic value, it was appointed as a national historic site in January, 2001. Jōmonkan (located at the Isedoutai Iseki site) exhibits about 300 clay figures, which were found at the remains ruins.
