NOVEMBER 20, 2018 | TOTEM TIMES | 3 Pop Up Art Stop for National Child Day What a surprise to see the Pop Up Art Stop in the lobby of the 19 Wing Comox Fitness and Commu- nity Centre on November 17! Over twenty young artists jumped in, with both hands, and created colorful contributions to a nation- al art project. The Comox kids’ art will be displayed, along with art from all the CAF bases, at the Na- tional War Museum in Ottawa. The free art event, sponsored by PSP Recreation, brings awareness to National Child Day - Novem- ber 20. Child Day celebrates the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, a treaty approved by the UN General Assembly in 1989. The basic principles are non-dis- crimination; the best interests of the child; the right to survival, life and development; and, participa- tion in voicing their opinions and views. PSP Recreation provides family and child focused events and activities for military kids throughout the year, many in collaboration with the Military Family Resource Cen- tre.
