It all began in the vicinity of Čeplje in 1901by the Vransko – Šempeter road, when Johan Goričan opened his first winery. Excellent fruit and wine grower Johan was the attendant of the manor Stopnik and he was married to Neža (born Brinovec), who used to be a cook in the ma- nor Hachenberg. They both respected the human values and people, which is important for a successful com- pany. They had improved their vision until 1936 when their nephew Franz Brinovec and his wife Pavla Rome took over the restaurant. They ran it until 1953 and back then they probably did not even imagine that the road by which their inn was standing would have a fatal influen- ce upon it ….
the exit Vransko. Drive along the regional road Nr 447 in direction Celje. Take the first turning right at the roun- dabout and you arrive at the car park of the inn, which offers 130 park spaces. The inn Grof is situated less than 200 metres from the motorway.
There is a room for 300 guests on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a small lecture room in which 40 persons can sit comfortably, and a special room for 50 guests. There is a children’s playroom for the young and there is a possibility of organising children’s parties. When they started building the road the house was knocked down. The restaurant was moved to another location and was opened again in 1968. It was in service until 2000 when it was closed again because they star- ted building a motorway. This year it is the 110th anniversary since Johan Goričan opened his own winery. Horse yokes, carriages and hor- ses have been replaced by cars and buses. Numerous visitors have walked through our door. Time brings chan- ges, and from the first day, when people were paying with guldens until today when we are paying with euros, also nutrition habits have been changing. Despite dif- ferent times and changed habits the original mission of the inn Grof has been preserved. Our main principles are quality offer and satisfied guests! LOCATION AND INTERIOR The restaurant Grof has been standing by the road sin- ce 1901. It is true that the location has been changing over a hundred years of its existence but the location “by the road” marks the inn even today. The easiest way to find it is to drive on the Štajerska motorway A1 and take Rooms Grof New in our offer! We prepared seven standardly furnished rooms. You can cho- ose between single, double or triple bedded rooms. Hotel part has a private entrance that is separated from the restaurant. 24/7 check-in and check-out. Breakfast, that is available for guests in the restaurant Grof from 7:00, is included in the price. The origin of the name Vransko An old folk tale says that the name Vransko has its origin in the name of a bird – crow (vrana in the Slovenian language - Crowtown). The legend has it that once there used to be a lake in the Vransko valley, which was dug up, drained and a settlement was built at that area. Be- cause of the crows the inhabitants named the settlement Vransko. The place where the lake was dug up was given the name Prekopa (prekopati – dig up), and where the ferry boats ran and carried people across the lake the place was named Brode (brod – ferry boat).

PELINKOVEC The birth of Coca-Cola in March 8th, 1886 repre- Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta sents a milestone in modern history. That day John Pemperton, a pharmacist from Atlanta in the US, first mixed the Coca-Cola syrup with carbonized water and sold it in the Jacob’s Pharmacy at the value of 5 cents. On this day the world of bev- erages was forever changed. Today Coca-Cola is the most popular, best sold non alcoholic drink in history, in addition to never having preservatives or artificial aromas. From the very beginning the recognizable leitmotif of the incredible history of John Pemberton Coca Cola was »expressing joy«.
The first one able to turn Coca Cola from a phar- macy invention into an industry was Asa G. Candler, an Atlanta businessman, who in 1887 became the first chairman of the Coca Cola company. Natural born salesman, he came up with innovative mar- keting approaches, effectively bringing the drink closer to the thirsty costumers: giving away cou- pons for free sampling, putting it on the shelves in pharmacies or shops with brand watches, calen- dars, scales, etc.. Coca-cola was everywhere and Calendar as accessories in sales points soon the aggressive promotion bore fruit.
It was only the development of filling plants that brought Coca-Cola world-wide fame. Already in 1894 a salesman from Mississippi began, for the purposes of sale, filling Coca-Cola into small bottles, known as »Hutchinson«. He sent a sample to Candler, but the chairman of Coca-Cola wasn’t interested in packaging at the time, regardless of Asa G. Candler

He signed the first exclusive contract, regarding the filling rights, with two young lawyers only five years later, who in search of local entrepreneurs as subcontractors quickly spread the net of filling plants across the state. In 1916, in attempt to protect them from plagiarism, a “Contour” bottle was designed and chosen in a contest – a distinguished form, even today recognizable all over the world.
Bottle Hutchinson In 1923 Robert W. Woodruff took over the lead- ership of Coca-Cola and remained in the throne for 60 years, taking the Coca-Cola drink into other continents. Experts recognized him as a market- ing genius, a man who always saw an opportunity to expand. In example – in 1928 he introduced Coca-Cola at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
Other important marketing moves followed, many of which drastically influenced the widespread and popularity of the brand: »six pack« packing, open refrigerators, automatic serving machines, Santa Bottle Contour Claus…
In all of these years the success story of Coca-Cola grew into a people-connecting brand, inspiring op- timism and creating bonds, breaching age differ- ence or geographic distances… It also grew into a drink that offers simple moments of pleasure on daily basis, while its excellent taste brings smiles to faces of people all over the globe.

Spodnji Savinjski dolini, kjer imamo na voljo najboljši hmelj s kmetije Rojnik. Naš prepovedan sadež je dovoljen vsem, ki razumete, kaj pomeni uživati v toplih pomladnih, pole- tnih in jesenskih večerih; uživati v družbi prijateljev, boljše polovice ali samega sebe; uživati takrat, ko je treba ustaviti konje in izstopiti iz stresne situacije. V našem oran- žnem “zvarku” se odlično povežejo hmeljske sorte Styrian Wolf, Aurora in Mosaic, posebno vlogo v pivu pa je tokrat odigralo kar 40 kg najsla- stnejšega tropskega sadeža – manga.

Povodni mož is a character, cre- ated by one of the most famous Slovenian poets, France Prešeren. This water creature seduced the women from Ljubljana and also the majority of the Slovenian beer lovers (Best Slovenian beer award 2017). It features Aurora, Centennial, Citra and Simcoe hops. Distinctive west coast IPA aroma is found in this beer too, inviting us with superb aroma of tropical fruits and tons of citrus flavour, finishing off with smooth and pleasant bitterness.

Historical landmarks of Pivovarna Laško go back in 1825 to the times of Franz HMELj Geyer, who was, according to historical sources, a pioneer of brewery in Laško. Many individuals and groups were recorded in a remarkable 185- year long period. From Simon Kukec, who founded first beer brand of thermal beer, to the Associa- tion of innkeepers, who strived to reopen the Laško brewery and succeeded in it. In the period of the 185 years different types and later different brands of beer were brewed in Pivovarna Laško, which are chronologically stated below: Around 1900 March and Bavarian beer were brewed, as well as beer porter, which they started to call dark Laško beer due to its foreign name. During the World War II the brewery operated under the patronage of the Germans, who preserved the brand “Laško pivo”. They kept the design of the bottle label on which was a young lady with a glass of beer in her right hand but they removed the Slovenian symbol – a bonnet. It was replaced by a neckerchief and inscription in German. The parade beers of that period were Termalno pivo or Thermalbier, Marčevsko pivo or Marzen beer, and black Zlatorog Goldhorn Export. After being demolished and later reconstructed the brewery was again in the Slove- nian hands from 1946. The leading brand back then was to all a very well-known Zlatorog (Goldhorn), the name which was supposedly suggested by a writer Janez Jalen to the shareholders of the Innkeepers Association. The following types of beer were brewed in the 70s of the previous Century: the pale ale Zlatorog, Laško Super Golding, stout thermal Desert pivo, Striptis pale, pale ale Export beer, stout Jubilejnik, pale Novoletnik, and pale Cvetnik. Beers Zlatorog, Zlatorog Club, Termalni desert, and Gren brought fame to Pivovarna Laško in the 1980s. With the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1991 the brewery lost a great part of the market and suffered a sharp drop in sales. In December 2000 they offered their products in a new packaging – in brown long-neck bottles and new holders. Product range consisted of brands such as: Zlatorog, Zlatorog Club, Temno Laško, Lahko Laško, hops beverage Gren, Netopir, Pils, and mixture of beer and lemonade, Roler. The offer was rounded with natural spring water Oda. The latter has been the official water of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia from its launch to the market in 1999 to present day. The brewery launched a new product of the trend beverages in 2003 – Bandidos. The product with a rebellious character and Latin charm has become a money- spinner. From originally one product a recognisable brand has developed intended for younger generations and for those who are young at heart. By the end of March it is coming on the shelves in a completely new image inspired by modern design trends.
The year 2008 was an important milestone for Pivovarna Laško. The brand archi- WWW.LASKO.EU tecture of Laško pivo was changed and consequently its image. The brand Zlatorog became the brand Laško, and the brand architecture has become as follows: Laško Zlatorog, Laško Club, Laško Dark, and Laško Light. Laško Zlatorog is a represen- tative of the standard offer and has an adequate packaging. The image is of utmost importance for positioning and recognisability of each and all of the products. It is no coincidence that Pivovarna Laško has changed its corporate image along with

The image of the product brand Laško is designed in such a way that one can see at first sight that it belongs to Pivovarna Laško. SAviNjSKi The new corporate image is a symbol of quality for all the brands of the company. HMELj The brewery has offered its customers a new beer Eliksir on the threshold of the jubilee year 2010. This is a beer of bock type for which it is characteristic a higher rate of alcohol and extracts. It is distinguished by a pleasant, consistent smell and wide range of tastes. At the end of the jubilee year a limited series of a special light beer Jubilejnik was offered, which is also distinguished by a higher rate of alcohol and 13.4 per cent of extract. The feature of Jubilejnik is a gentle bitterness, which comes from the autochthonous sort of the hops Savinjski Golding, and consistent aroma. This beer is yet another pearl in the crown of excellent beers from Laško. Pivovarna Laško has gone through good and bad times in 185 years, and had its ups and downs, survived the take-over and closing down by the competition, wars, and foreign power. It survived the period of post-war economic crisis and achieved growth in the 60s of the previous century. It reached its peak measured in hecto- litres of the sold beer in the 90s of the previous century. After the war of indepen- dence the brewery wrote new business strategies and thus won the autonomy in increasingly global and connected brewery world. With the capital connections in the beginning of the 21st Century it has achieved that today the united beverage industry is independent and competitive. Joint op- eration under the group Pivovarna Laško efficiently confronts demanding business conditions and cares for 30 leading beer brands, natural and mineral water brands, juices, and non-alcoholic beverages. Despite turbulent times the quality of products from Pivovarna Laško was never in question. The best materials have still been used: clean water from the intact hills in the surrounding of Laško, quality Slovenian hops, first-rate malt, and other materials of controlled quality, which are needed for the production of beer with the Laško character. The quality has been confirmed by the international recognition awards: Pivovarna laško has been participating with its beverages in the competition Monde Selection for years now and has received a variety of precious medals for different products. Three gold medals and one silver medal in 2010 are an excellent achievement, and because of that they are convinced more than ever that they are on the right path in developing quality beer, mixed drinks based on beer, and other beverages. Prestigious awards which have been awarded at the competition Monde Selection from 1961 certainly prove it. Together with the prestigious Monde Selection medals Pivovarna Laško also received the award Trusted Brand in beer category, which is granted by the readers of the magazine Reader’s Digest. The procedures according to which Pivovarna Laško produces its beers are tradi- tional and transferred in the environment of modern technologies. The latest prod- ucts are also a result of the domestic knowledge, exploration, and innovation. The power and value of the brand Pivovarna Laško, which is one of the oldest in Slo- WWW.LASKO.EU venia, comes from all mentioned before.
