Val d’Arda è ricca di depositi fossiliferi del pliocene, comprende la Riserva naturale geologica del Piacenziano; i reperti sono raccolti nel Museo Geologico G. Cortesi a Castell'Arquato. Il territorio è arricchito dal fascino enogastronomico, vi sono molti prodotti enogastronomici che rendono la zona interessante da questo punto di vista.

PUNTI D’INTERESSE / POINTS OF INTEREST Oratorio di Caravaggio Chiesa della Beata Vergine di Caravaggio o L’Oratorio di Caravaggio è uno degli edifici religiosi più belli e suggestivi di Fiorenzuola d’Arda. La tradizione vuole che la chiesa sia stata eretta tra il 1731 e il 1749 quale voto di popolo in occasione di epidemia e guerra ed è dedicata alla Beata Vergine di Caravaggio. Molto bella la facciata, con un alto portale affiancato da colonne e culminante con timpano ed archivolto. Il tutto sormontato da due finestre barocche.

Palazzo Grossi
E' la preziosa testimonianza dell'architettura civile rinascimentale. Gli elementi stilistici delle terrecotte consentono di datare il palazzo agli ultimi decenni del XV sec. La facciata principale sulla via, il lato est nel vicolo, e il camino del salone del piano terreno sono le sole parti originarie dopo i ricostruzioni dell'edificio. Lo stile del palazzo è di transizione: ad elementi del gotico che si sta esaurendo, unisce elementi dello stile rinascimentale. Il quartiere in cui è stato costruito è uno dei più antichi di Fiorenzuola.
It is the precious testimony of Renaissance civil architecture. The stylistic elements of the Terracotta allow to date the palace to the last decades of the XV century. The main facade on the street, the east side in the alley, and the fireplace of the Hall on the ground floor are the only original parts after the reconstructions of the building. The style of the palace is transitional: with elements of the Gothic that is running out, it combines elements of the Renaissance style. The neighborhood in which it was built is one of the oldest in Fiorenzuola.

Nel 41 a.C. fu insignita da Ottaviano della cittadinanza romana come “Julia Fidentia”, in richiamo del dio Fidio. Sotto la torre viscontea di porta S. Donnino, davanti al Duomo, sono state rinvenute le arcate del ponte romano sullo Stirone. La tradizione vuole che qui, nel 291 d.C., sia stato martirizzato S. Donnino. la storia ci narra che era un soldato al servizio dell’Imperatore Massimiano, il “cubicolario” ossia il funzionario che ne amministrava i beni e doveva custodire e porre sul suo capo il diadema o la corona utilizzata nelle grandi occasioni. Donnino però essendo cristiano e non volendo rinnegare la propria fede lasciò l’incarico dirigendosi verso Roma. l'imperatore ordinò di decapitarlo. Donnino quindi viene rappresentato dopo la morte, in piedi e con il capo mozzato in mano. Le sue spoglie sono tutt’ora conservate nella cripra della cattedrale. Altro punto di forza del locale è sicuramente la terrazza estiva, recentemente ampliata da un plateatico in legno, che può ospitare ben 80 persone. In una nicchia si trova la scultura del pellegrino, segno e richiamo al percorso della Via Francigena. Due lastre con bassorilievi simbolizzano l’inferno e i sette vizi capitali. I capitelli nell’atrio raffigurano i simboli degli evangelisti e la tentazione di Adamo ed Eva. Sull’altare una lastra in marmo bianco rappresenta la vita di S. Margherita. Tra i tesori d’arte resta in particolare la pregevole croce-reliquiario in bronzo dell’XI-XII secolo, che reca l’immagine di un Cristo crocefisso venerato dai pellegrini.
