We will start our adventure in Louisville, the city whose official drink is the Old Fashioned! Bourbon, history, and mouth watering meals, what more could you ask for? So many sights to see in between our bourbon tasting; theatre, factory tour, city landmarks, and more. Nestled in the rolling Kentucky hills lies the Bourbon Capital of the World and an official gateway to the trail. The tradition of distilling runs deep in historic Bardstown, a vibrant community with all the small-town charm you’d expect in any southern city. This promises to be an exciting learning adventure and we’ll even learn how to make a Mint Julep. Day 1—Travel to Louisville, KY

We are off on our journey—The Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The day passes quickly as we get acquainted with our fellow travelers. A Kentucky-style “Hot Brown” dinner is included before a good night’s sleep at the Galt House located in downtown Louisville along the Ohio River. (D) Day 2—Clermont & Bardstown, KY

We head to Clermont and the newly renovated Jim Beam American Stillhouse for an interactive, multi-sensory tour, some shopping, and wonderful setting. A short drive to Bardstown is on our agenda this afternoon and a visit to Bourbon Heritage Center. You will be treated to a “boozy milkshake” at the Bardstown Bourbon Company and a classic southern lunch with a cocktail in the “world’s oldest bourbon bar.” Before dinner we visit Maker’s Mark Distillery for a whisky workshop before we head back to Louisville. (B, L) Day 3—Local Louisville, Whisky Row & Derby Dinner Playhouse

After breakfast this morning we begin our day at the Frazier History Museum, the official starting point of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Time to peruse their Spirit of Kentucky Bourbon exhibition, shop for bourbon-y gifts, and look for the secret speakeasy entrance. Comfy shoes are a must as we sip, stroll, and savor Whisky Row, visiting three distilleries at our leisure within a few blocks of each other, ending with the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Tonight we are treated to a theatre performance at Derby Dinner Playhouse. (B, L, D) Day 4—Travel Home (B)

We welcome our local guide this morning for an overview tour of Louisville with highlights such as the history of “Derby City,” facts on horse country, and the world famous Kentucky Derby story. We also make a stop at Louisville Slugger for a tour prior to heading home. (B)
