Auch mit seiner brandneuen Single „If You Wanna Love Somebody“, der ersten Vorab- Auskopplung aus seinem dritten Album „Jubilee Road“, ist dem britischen Sänger, Pianisten und Songwriter eine weitere grandiose Hymne für alle vom Liebeskummer heimgesuchten Romantiker gelungen. Ein bewegender Song, der seinem Breakthrough-Hit „Another Love“ in nichts nachsteht. Produziert zusammen mit Ben Baptie (U2, The Voidz, London Grammar) und Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, James Morrison, KT Tunstall), ist der Track der erste neue Song seit Odells zweitem Album „Wrong Crowd”, das 2016 erschien und international in die oberen Bereiche der Charts stieg. Der internationale Durchbruch war ihm bereits 2013 mit seinem Debütalbum „Long Way Down“ mit der genannten platinveredelten Hitsingle „Another Love“ gelungen, die sich mehr als eine Million Mal verkaufte. Bislang stehen für Tom Odell mehr als 1,8 Millionen verkaufte Alben und zehn Millionen Singles weltweit zu Buche und er wurde mit dem Brits Critics’ Choice Award und dem Ivor Novello Award als Songwriter of the Year ausgezeichnet. Aber das ist nur die offizielle Erfolgsbilanz des 27-Jährigen. Wenn man seine Qualitäten als Songwriter und jetzt auch Arrangeur und Produzent wertschätzen will, muss man die Musik seiner neuen Platte für ihn sprechen lassen. Odell hat das außerordentliche Talent, seine Geschichten in üppige Songs zu verpacken, mit Streichern und Bläsern und Chor und natürlich seinem akkordsatten Pianoklang. Bei ihm werden Gefühle und Empfindungen zu einem großen und überwältigenden Sound, der seine charismatische Stimme voll zum Tragen bringt. Das gilt für das neue Stück genauso wie für die Lieder seiner kommenden Platte "Jubilee Road", die im Oktober erscheint.     In the early months of 1964, on their inaugural tour of North America, the Beatles seemed to be everywhere: appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show, making the front cover of Newsweek, and playing for fanatical crowds at sold out concerts in Washington, D.C. and New York City. On Billboard magazine’s April 4, 1964, Hot 100 2 list, the “Fab Four” held the top five positions. 28 One notch down at Number 6 was “Suspicion,” 29 by a virtually unknown singer from Amarillo, Texas, named Terry Stafford.     ANDY BURROWS SELECTED CREDITS ´ AFTER LIFE (2018-2020) DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD (2016) THE SNOWMAN AND THE SNOWDOG (2012) BIOGRAPHY Widely known as the drummer from Razorlight from 2004 to 2009 and We Are Scientists from 2009 to 2014, Andy Burrows is a composer, songwriter, and musician whose screen credits range across feature films, television series and children’s animation. In addition to his work with Razorlight and We Are Scientists, Andy released his first solo album ‘The Colour of My Dreams’ in 2008. He released his first album entitled ‘Sun Comes Up Again’ under solo project I Am Arrows in 2010. His third solo album, ‘Company’, was released in 2012. Andy was the co-composer with Ilan Eshkeri for the Lupus Films animation ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’, which premiered on Christmas Eve in 2012. The film earned the duo a nomination for ‘Best Original Television Music’ BAFTA Craft Award in April 2013. In 2016, Andy worked with Ricky Gervais to co-write and co-produce the original soundtrack for hit comedy ‘David Brent: Life on the Road’, produced by BBC Films for Entertainment One. Andy also features in the film as the drummer in Brent’s band, Forgone Conclusion. Andy continued his collaboration with Ricky Gervais in 2018 through to 2020, composing the original score for Netflix series one and two of ‘After Life’. It is too easy to see a man sitting at a piano and conjure images of pop superstars and legendary frontmen of bygone eras. But with his recent release, Jubilee Road, Tom Odell adds his unique musical dexterity to the proverbial mix. Odell’s defined style combines songwriting that is occasionally revelatory with effusive piano playing. Granting he is considered a contemporary impresario by many, Odell’s album, at times, is lost to the capriciousness of overly slick piano and mediocre songwriting. Yet Jubilee Road bares an intimate and expressive vulnerability rendering Odell as a viable factor in contemporary pop music. Jubilee Road is less bluesy than previous endeavors. Instead, Odell dabbles with various genres including gospel. He employs distinguishable melismas especially apparent on “If You Wanna to Love Somebody”. Odell’s note-bending adds a trance-like harmony to his already embellished keyboarding. The track takes a decisive turn towards gospel as a chorus echoes and lifts Odell’s singing. This technique is revisited in “You’re Going to Break My Heart Tonight” when the backup vocals add a cadence of pain and haunting vulnerability. The inclusion of a single saxophone reiterates the sense of desolation. In interviews, Odell has positioned Elton John as the foremost musical authority, and his influence is evident throughout Jubilee Road.
