Opening of the Maison Ousmane Sow ( 2018) by Chloé Guennou On May 5, 2018, on the occasion of the thirteenth edition of the Biennial of of Dakar 2018 placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of , will open in Dakar the Maison Ousmane Sow where the works of the artist who died on December 1, 2016 will be presented. This house that he lived in until his death, Ousmane Sow had conceived it as a sculpture, a work of art in its own right. In 1999, he completed the creation of The Battle of Little Big Horn, which will be exhibited on the cornice in Dakar, then on the Pont des Arts in Paris, with its African series, in a retrospective that welcomed three million visitors. The Maison Ousmane Sow will undoubtedly join the inventory of legendary houses around the world, so perfect is the adequacy between the works and this space entirely covered with the material of the artist's sculptures, walls and tiles. Visitors will move freely in this labyrinthine place, discovering the works, the souvenirs and the workshop left as it was when Ousmane Sow left. At the same time as the inauguration of the Maison Ousmane Sow by Mr Abdoul Latif Coulibaly, Minister of Culture, an exhibition will be presented in the Eiffage premises: a photo-video installation by Béatrice Soulé immersing visitors in the world of Ousmane Sow, followed by a tour recounting the various episodes in the link between the artist and the company from 1999 to 2018. Two pieces from the "Battle of Little Big Horn" series will be on display in the centre of the exhibition: The Unhorsed Knight and The Wounded Indian.
