KIA KIMA PACKING LIST ● Foot Locker - To store all of your gear into. This will be packed into the trailer and scouts will not have access to this until arrival at camp. So have whatever you need for the ride to and from into a small back pack or day pack ● Full Class A Uniform - This will be worn on the ride to and from camp as well at flag ceremonies. When the uniform is worn is also up to the SPL’s discretion. ○ Uniform Shirt ○ Uniform Pants ○ Belt ● 8 Days of clothes ○ Shirt - The class B summer camp shirts will be worn on the 5 days of camp ○ Shorts ○ Underwear ○ Socks ● 2-3 pairs of pants - If the temperature drops then a pair of pants could be useful. It can also help if you have to walk through tall grass regularly. ● 1 Pair of Jeans - Has many uses, if you need a tough pair of pants, these should be your go to. ● 1 Long Sleeved Shirt - If the temperature drops then a good long sleeve shirt might help to stay warm. ● 3-5 extra pairs of socks - The joke is that you can never pack too many socks. These are needed in case of rain, sweat, wear and tear. PRO TIP: If your socks EVER get wet from water or sweat, you should change them. If you don’t blisters can form along with other things that are not ideal for summer camp. ● Sweater or Jacket - If the temperature drops then a good jacket might be useful, however this jacket might get dirty so don’t bring your nicest jacket. ● Swim Trunks - Extras if taking an aquatics merit badge - Even if you are not taking an aquatics class, a pair of swim trunks is something that should be thrown in. There is a time called “Open swim” where everyone can go swimming (Swim check permitting) ● Towel - Extras if taking an aquatics merit badge ● Raincoat / Rain poncho - The one time you do not bring one, will be the one time it rains (Proven Fact) ● Tennis Shoes - Used as a backup pair or for traveling. Please do not buy new shoes a week before summer camp. The shoes need to be broken in so it does not hurt your foot or cause blisters. ● Hiking Shoes - You will wear these everyday and they NEED to be broken in. Easy ways to do this is to wear them around the house, go for a couple walks, etc. Just do NOT make summer camp your 1st or 2nd time wearing them. ● Shower Shoes (Flip Flops or Sandals) - As you can imagine, showers are not always the cleanest at camp. Bringing a pair of sandals or flip flops can help for the walk to, from, and to wear while in the shower. ● Toiletries ○ Soap ○ Shampoo ○ Deodorant ○ Comb ○ Tooth Brush ○ Tooth Paste ○ Etc. ● Sleeping Bag - A good bag that is temperature appropriate. ● Sleeping Bag Liner - Some nights are colder or warmer, and a decent bag liner can help to be comfortable ● Pillow ● Blanket ● Sunscreen - DO NOT FORGET TO BRING OR USE ● Bug Repellent ● Hat / Cap ● Small Backpack / Day Bag - This is what you will carry around with you in the car and everyday. In here you will need to pack everything you could need for that day’s activities. ● Scout Handbook ● Individual Program Needs - Look at the leaders handbook and find what you need to bring for certain merit badges (While your there you might look up any requirements you need to do before hand) ● Spending Money - There will be a troop 1 “Banker” that can help to regulate how much money is used each day. ● Water Bottle - DO NOT FORGET ● Pen / Pencil ● Wrist Watch OPTIONAL: ● Camera ● Pocket Knife - ONLY if you have a toten chit. If you earned it, you have to have it with you AT ALL TIMES to use a knife, and if you need a new one, get it BEFORE the leaving day.
