The Racers won at Mississippi State in 2015 by a 2-1 score. Taylor Richerson

The two goals for Harriet Withers were her 17th and 18th career scores at MSU. This puts her in sixth place 2016 OVC Weekly Awards on the all-time MSU scoring list, just behind No. 5 Krista Muilkens who scored 22 goals for the Racers from Offensive 2005-08. None Defensive Junior Aaron Lankster’s assist was the fi rst in her MSU career. None Goalkeeper Chattanooga - Aug. 26 - Home - Won - 2-0 None This was the 17th home opener for the Racers at Cutchin Field since the program was started in 2000. 2015 All-OVC Alex Steigerwald recorded her seventh career shutout included a career-high 12 saves. Her previous best was Harriet Withers, Offensive Player of the Year 11 (Sept 27, 2015) at home against Saint Louis. Goalkeeper 9/15 - Shelby Haworth, Murray State Vanderbilt scored two quickly in the fi rst half. Both goals were within the fi rst 25 minutes. The Racers fi rst 10/13 - Alex Steigerwald, Murray State shot in the game came in the second half at the 34th minute when Madalyn Germann had a header, which 10/20 - Alex Steigerwald, Murray State was saved.

Arkansas State - Sep. 4 - Home - Tie 1-1 The Murray State soccer team posted their fi rst tied match since 2013 when they faced the Arkansas State Red Wolves at Cutchin Field Sunday as the day ended with a 1-1 stalemate.

The fi rst half was a defensive battle. The Racers outshot the Red Wolves 7-5 but the game was still scoreless after the fi rst 45 minutes.

That changed when Harriet Withers scored in the 47th minute on a goal assisted by Anna Richards, which was her fi rst assist at MSU. Withers took eight shots with seven on goal and now has three goals this season.

Arkansas State (1-2-2) tied the score with a goal in the 77th minute.

The Racers escaped a bad situation that occurred in the 81st minute. After a Racer foul, ASU was given a penalty kick. Just when it looked like the Red Wolves were surely going to take the lead, Tayler Carter’s PK attempt hit the left post and stayed out and the game was still tied 1-1.

Eastern Kentucky 2-0 7-2-0 Tennessee Tech 2-0 6-4-1 In the fi rst half, Harriet Withers had a great chance in the 23rd minute, but was denied. Less than two minutes SIUE 2-0 4-4-2 later, UK had a shot on goal, but MSU’s Alex Steigerwald made a save on the shot from 15 yards in front. In Austin Peay 1-0 6-4-0 the 35th minute, the Racers managed to fi ght off two more UK shots, but couldn’t in the 37th minute when Murray State 1-0 2-4-1 UK’s Kaitlin Miller scored the match’s fi rst goal with a header from a corner kick. The Racers lost 1-0 to the Billikens when SLU’s Lindsay Sands scored in the 103rd minute. Sept. 29 Morehead State at Eastern Kentucky 3:00 PM Freshman Kaylyn Telfair’s fi rst start as a Racer was a success. Telfair made 12 saves on the day with six in each half. The game would’ve ended sooner if not for one crucial save she made in the 42nd minute. Sept. 30 SIUE at Belmont 4:00 PM Racers ended the game with seven shots to the Billikens’ 24.
